- Price List Database Application
Microsoft Access and Excel 2007 VBA.
Developed an electronic price list application to manage pricing information on software products and maintenance packages, generating pricing reports in various currencies and discounts. The software also maintained journal information for auditing, and restricted advanced features to authorized users. Also developed an application to reformat and augment pricelist data for export to a legacy system. This is a high profile application with a wide business impact for the client and, developed under critical deadlines.

Contract at State Street, Boston, MA May 2008 – December 2008
- Financial Data Reconciliation Programs
Microsoft Access and Excel 2003 VBA.
Developed financial data reconciliation tools in MS Access and Excel 2003 VBA as part of a database migration project for State Street. Data arrived on a daily basis as text and Excel files extracted from client, in-house and vendor data sources. The reconciliation programs then parsed those extracts into database tables and transformed the data for comparison, producing Excel-formatted reconciliation reports and management summary reports. The project involved extensive interaction with business administrators to define tool requirements.

Contract at Broadridge, Hingham, MA December 2006 – April 2008
- ETL Data Conversion Programs
Microsoft Access and Excel 2003 VBA, COBOL 85.
Wrote programs in to analyze and convert mutual fund proxy voting data. Essentially an ETL process, data arrived as Excel workbooks or as text files, and custom tools were then written to parse and summarize the data for analysis, and to convert it for processing on COBOL tabulation systems. Analysis was done using MS Access, and reports were generated as Excel workbooks or text files. The conversion programs processed massive data sets of up to millions of records of varied, secure financial data on an ongoing basis. Conversion tools were written in combinations of MS Access, Excel and COBOL 85.

Corcoran Software (www.corcoransoftware.com), a.k.a. PHCSoft, is a one-man business providing mathematical and database programming. Current emphasis is on statistical programming for analysis, forecasting and optimization using Microsoft VBA and Jet SQL technologies. Philip H. - Quote System Management Program
Visual Basic 6, ASP, JavaScript, MS Access VBA, MS SQL Server 7.
Designed and coded a Visual Basic 6 client-server application to manage workflow of large projects requiring multiple ASP forms. The program sent automated email messages to direct workflow participants in what ASP forms to complete, and sent timely reminders and generated project reports. The server-side code was written in Visual Basic and ASP for MS Access and MS SQL Server applications, and the client-side code was written in HTML and JavaScript.

Contract at Physiometrix, Inc., North Billerica, MA November 2000 - July 2001
- Artifact Detection within Human EEG Signals
Visual C++ 6.0, Excel VBA, MS Access VBA, Windows 2000.
Analyzed and documented legacy code for an EEG medical device project. Took program code from an embedded system and ported it to a Windows 2000 environment, gave it an MFC GUI, and instrumented it for parameterization and for extraction of state information from test runs. Wrote DSP utility programs to detect signal artifacts within EEG data and to extract statistical information. Wrote programs to translate test-run data from among several EEG data file formats, and wrote VBA scripts to report results using Excel charts. Wrote MS Access VBA applications to manage test results data.

Contract at State Street Global Advisors, Boston, MA May 1999 - June 2000
- Financial Securities Portfolio Rebalancing and Analysis Software
C++, Perl, Visual Basic 5.0 and script languages for Sun UNIX and Windows NT.
Maintained, upgraded and documented a UNIX-based C++ program that controlled nightly analysis and rebalancing of commercial portfolios holding more than 8 billion dollars in securities. Wrote Perl and Visual Basic 6 tools to manage UNIX processing from networked PCs running Windows NT. Enhanced a simulation version of the portfolio rebalancing software to support trial analysis of potential portfolio adjustments.

Programmer for TASC, Inc., Reading, MA June 1996 - August 1998
- Synthetic Battlefield Reconnaissance Imagery
C++, Visix Galaxy, Rogue Wave, Sun and SGI UNIX, Clearcase, Rational Rose UML.
Senior Member of the Technical Staff. Designed and wrote code to simulate images of battlefield reconnaissance for military training. The program allowed military trainers to create realistic mock reconnaissance photographs for war games training. Also coded tools for simulation testing of outer space-based directed energy weapons platforms.
