PROFILE
A motivated, experienced, resourceful and highly organised young geologist with a flare for learning and implementing new skills.
RELEVANT SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
* Project managed numerous site investigations, from winning the tender to invoicing the client, from £2-100k. Developed leadership and communication skills to reach targets, motivate staff and meet industry standards.
* Logging of soil, chalk and rock to BS and Eurocode standard.
* Responsibility and supervision for all permeability tests (packer and constant head) during Structural Soils Ltd's largest job to date, £1.2million, for a new nuclear power station. This included rig supervision and interpretation of results.
* Independent mapping project involving 6 weeks of site work mapping complex metamorphic formations in Greece.
* Research into deposition of sediment laden flows for 5 months as part of my MSci course which culminated in the results being included as part of a publication (see below) in Sedimentology.
QUALIFICATIONS and CPD
CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme), PTS (Personnel Track Safety), Thames Water Passport, Asbestos Awareness, First Aid (2007), CAT and Genny training, ALcontrol seminar on contamination, RSK gas training, CPT talk (Fugro and Lankelma). A 4 day course, 'A Short Course on Foundations' held at Imperial College, London in 2006.
PUBLICATIONS Amy L.A., Talling P.J., Edmonds V.O., Sumner E.J., Lesueue A., (2006) An experimental investigation of sand–mud suspension settling behaviour: implications for bimodal mud contents of submarine flow deposits. Sedimentology 53 1411-1434.

Sept 2005 - investigation company. This involved project managing ground investigations for
Feb 2009 geotechnical and contamination analysis. Key skills learnt included logging soil and rock, appreciating the capabilities of various drill rigs, installing gas and water monitoring pipes, geotechnical and contamination laboratory testing analysis and writing interpretive reports. The reports included information on foundation design, slope stability, soakaways, past mine workings, cambering, contamination, gas analysis and pavement design.
On site duties included supervising cable, rotary, window sample and CPT rigs, permeability tests (soakaways, variable head tests, pumping tests and packer tests), plate bearing tests, CBR tests, surveying borehole locations and monitoring installations for gas and water levels.
Projects managed and worked on have included residential, commercial, motorways, railways, bridges, nuclear power stations and highly contaminated sites.
POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY
