WELDING INSPECTOR (AWS CWI)

Career Summary

18+ years of experience in engineering and construction activities in Oil field, Petrochemical, Refinery and gas handling projects.
* Broad knowledge of oil and gas facilities and construction management.
* Demonstrated experience in various projects.
* Review of project QA/QC and HSE plans and monitor for the system implementation.
* Review all procedures, Quality inspection test plan and method statements prior to commencement of any activity.
* Prepare WPS, monitoring the procedure qualifications and subsequent welder qualifications, piping/pipeline welding inspection, pressure test and coordination with sub con/client.
* Verify welder performance records and recommend steps to minimize weld repair rates.
* Verify and maintain the calibration status of necessary Inspection & Testing Equipment.
* Ensure that all the required tests are properly conducted and reports submitted on them.
* Preparation of final dossier and handover to Commissioning team.

Educational Qualification: Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Technical Qualifications: AWS CWI (CERT. NO: 08082441).
ASNT NDT Level II RI

Key responsibilities and functions

* Observe all safety regulations.
* Planning, management and coordination of all activities associated with the construction, installation and commissioning of oil and gas facilities.
* Review that materials supplied by Contractor have Inspection Release notes from recognized Third party inspection agencies.
* Report to QA/QC manager on the performance of the Quality Management Systems and the need for improvement.
* Active liaison between various groups on the project, including engineering, construction and installation contractors/Operations.
* Responsible for establishing and ensuring that preventive action are implemented and corrective actions are taken within the area of responsibility.
* Establish and maintain liaison with the Client's QA/QC representatives.
* Monitor the status and disposition of any non-conformity on the project.
* Provide response based on root cause analysis for quality issues, and corrective action requests.
* Visual testing of welds for meeting codes and client specifications.
* Coordinate for NDE's with third party inspections when necessary.
* Release pipelines and piping for hydro testing.
* Quality surveillance, witness for hydro testing and documentation review.
* Carry out final inspection, prepare punch/ defect list and any other document, certify and clear for pre-commissioning activities.
* Preparation of contractor performance report and project close out report.
* Represent company in all meetings/discussions with the Client's QA/QC representatives.
* Initiate, organize and chair weekly site technical meetings and monthly progress meetings and report on them.
* Ensure that Contractor / Employer's obligations under the agreement are strictly adhered to.
* Review the training program submitted by the Contractor to ensure that it is beneficial to the Client.
* Assist in performance of Internal Quality Audits and ensure any corrective actions needed are followed up and cleared.
* Coordination of shut down activities, as applicable
* support for ISO certification and training compliance
