Overview

A conscientious, self motivated and adaptable senior surveyor with a proactive and positive attitude towards completing projects. This approach is borne out of skills gained in completing a wide range of surveying and working as a civil site agent on projects with a value of the equivalent of A$12.5M in both office-based and on-site work.
Well versed in using Leica surveying equipment, including total stations, track survey trolley and digital levels. Experienced in the use of traditional rail survey methods including platform gauging, versining and theodolite straights.
Recent experience includes management of a range of small scheme sites for the Northumbrian Water Health and Safety Sub Programme in the UK. This involved site based problem resolution, managing subcontractors and ensuring completion of work to client specification and quality requirements whilst working within challenging budget restrictions.

Career History

April 2007 to September 2008 – JN Bentley Limited, UK – Surveyor/Site Agent
Management of contracts under the Health and Safety Sub Programme for Northumbrian Water across a large variety of sites with a team of up to 5 direct charge staff and additional subcontractors.
Main duties are cost-control, programming of resources and coordinating site access. Additional responsibilities include
* Producing method statements
* Compliance with QA procedures and operational standards
* Subcontractor performance reports
* Regular progress meetings with the client
* Pre-contract meetings with subcontractors
* Monthly financial expenditure forecasting
Other experience includes site engineer and sub agent roles during landfill construction; total job value of A$1.9M during phase 2 and A$600K for phase 3.
Site engineer on Dawdon Minewater Treatment scheme (A$4M) and Knostrop Lagoon capping (A$12.5M).
Surveying tasks include setting out profiles and batter rails for earthworks on landfill sites, topographic surveys on water treatment works with TopCon GPS; using LSS and AutoCAD to produce the required drawings.

June 2006 to March 2007 – TPS Consult, Wolverhampton, UK – Land Surveyor
Duties included performing topographic surveys on MOD sites; ranging from single building sites to whole barracks (>500,000m2), including tracing of buried services, drainage inspection and internal building surveys. Surveys of railway stations for platform extension works. Processing undertaken with LSS and exported to AutoCAD for final edits.

January 2005 to June 2006 - Tritech Rail Ltd, Wigan, Lancashire, UK - Surveyor
Supervising survey teams to produce surveys of railways and associated railway property to exacting tolerances (+/- 5mm) and tight data delivery schedules.

Projects included:
* Setting out of switches and crossings with Leica 1201 total stations for realignment of West Coast Mainline, Leica GRP 3000 trolley surveys to produce tamper files for following night shift, gauging of bridges, signals and platforms, final as-built surveys and coordination of spigots on new gantries.
* Monitoring of track movement during civil excavations and tunnel movement during overhead piling work.
* Lead surveyor of design validation surveys on routes from Nottingham to London and subsequent supervision of the contract traditional surveying staff.
* Laser scanning project to determine the site geometry and geology of tunnels adjacent to Liverpool University buildings.
* Technician roles during track re-lay shifts, including monitoring dig and ballast levels and checking the position of new sleepers against the existing tracks.

July 2004 to December 2004 – The Mapping Place, UK – Photogrammetrist (Maternity Cover)
Main responsibilities included scanning films, creating new projects, producing text information files to generate batches of orthophoto tiles, checking the quality of data before transferring to storage devices and delivering to clients, and management of the project progress.
