Project Test Engineer for the Department of Army Chem. Demil. Program "Speedy Neut" program. Performed engineering reviews, prepared specifications, engineering calculations, environmental engineering support, and operations support of a prototype Modular Agent Treatment System (MATS).
As Project Test Director provided supervision of installation crews for upgrades to the Army RTAP mobile laboratories. Inspector for factory acceptance testing, final checkout, and release of upgraded vehicles to the Army for their use. Job also required training of operators working with the new installation upgrades, troubleshooting, engineering support, equipment repair, and preparation of technical manuals including the RTAP Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual. Prepared Evaluation of Vortec Vitrification System Radionuclide Waste-Water Discharges at PGDP, examining DOE Orders, reviewed recommended Derived Concentration Guides (DCGs) for radionuclides and recommended radionuclide discharge limits for PGDP's vitrification system. Performed engineering and health physics calculations on a computer spreadsheet, evaluated process parameters, designed wastewater discharge system in the outfall and recommended discharge flowrates.
Conducted a process engineering review of the Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Treatment of Mixed Wastes at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant by Using the Vortec Vitrification System.
