Also worked in a technical consulting role for problem resolution at customer sites and to provide additional engineering support when required. Projects included ESSCOR simulator for Loy Yang Power Station, environmental logging and reporting for Australian Vinyls Corporation, sequence control upgrade for Australian Paper NSSC Digester, Minerva Gas project for BHP Billiton, Vinyls Plant DCS Upgrade for Australian Vinyls Corporation.

1997 – 1999 Year 2000 Project Manager – Singapore
Foxboro Far East Pte Ltd
Employed to manage Y2K projects in the ASEAN region associated with upgrading Foxboro systems for Year 2000 Compliance. Required detailed resource planning and supervising a core team, additional project resources and direction of locally based resources located in separate area companies throughout the region (Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Pakistan, etc.).

I was engaged as a Control Engineer to assist with the production of electrical drawings and schedules for the Loy Yang 'A' Power station being constructed by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria.
This work involved liaising with S.E.C.V. engineering staff to produce initial schematics and schedules and to follow these drawings through checking, validation and final construction.

1980 – 1981 Engineer Grade 'A'- Australia

I was employed as a Technical Writer for the production of descriptive and operations manuals being produced for the Newport 'D' and Yallourn West Power stations. This position required liaison with the S.E.C.V.'s Project and Design engineering staff and various plant contractors.
I was subsequently engaged to design and supervise an in-house drawing validation system to check electrical wiring schematics and cable schedules for the Yallourn West (Stage 2) Power station.

As a Customer Engineer I performed preventative and breakdown maintenance of a range of Document Microfilm Cameras and Computer Output Microfilm (COM) Cameras.
This work involved electro-mechanical and electronic fault finding to component level, including the precision optics systems.

Lead engineer in charge of Process computer software generation, supervising 4 engineers. Responsible for technical development of Control and Display software, software design (from Kamyr flowcharts), testing and scheduling.

Kraft Batch Digester House
[A.P.M. Maryvale Mill]
Computer Systems Engineer assisting mill Process engineer to replace existing Sentrol computer with Foxboro computer control system. Tasks included software design, testing and plant commissioning. Included testing of first production model Fox300 at Foxboro, Mass., USA.

Direct Alkali Recovery System (DARS) Process

System engineer for refurbishment of large plastic extruder system. Responsible for instrumentation selection, control system programming, installation and commissioning. System was an OPTO22 Mistic system (analog/PLC hybrid) and included original development of communications links to Eurotherm controllers and extruder main drive Variable Speed controller.

PVC Plant

Engaged as a software developer for the PVC expansion project. Involved modifying existing code for ABB MOD300 to handle the doubling of the plant capacity. Required new design and coding and replacement of existing code to allow for new/replacement equipment. Developed custom serial communications software for ABB MOD300 to Contrec batch controller.
