Legal and Commercial Consultant specialising in Project and Contract Management.

For the last 8 years Robert has been assisting predominately O&G, environmental, building and civil engineering companies in the management of regulatory and contract matters to achieve their strategic and financial goals.

The ability to keep and to improve upon commercial contracts is often complex. It draws together a diverse range of diplomatic, corporate, commercial, finance, litigation and regulatory specialisms. As a proactive lawyer and manager of business projects / contracts he provides companies and utilities with strategic commercial opportunities using law, management consultancy, market analysis and information systems to achieve a successful conclusion for the client whilst ensuring compliance and protection in commercial contract negotiation and drafting. He also has significant experience in assisting companies in proposing and weighing up available options. He defends client integrity and financial status without compromise.

He has been responsible for up to 15 simultaneous projects and the commercial staff on the larger projects. Robert was called in to manage and resolve waste management and waste engineering issues relating to the development of the Kashaghan oil field development particularly with regard to identification of waste streams, estimation and determination; the application of Best Available Techniques and Good International Industry Practice. Primary activities related to solid and aqueous wastes: Developed waste management strategy and associated long term planning for world's largest oil field development project. Provided technical guidance in coordination with engineering disciplines and regulatory assistance.

2007

Commercial Manager – Claims – Blackford Dolphin Deepwater Upgrade Project. Rotterdam, Holland

Robert joined the team of Osprey International in Rotterdam team to evaluate the claims pertaining to the Electrical and Instrumentation on the semi submersible rig Blackford Dolphin. The claims for delay and disruption arose due to the contractor failing to undertake the detailed design in accordance with the contract requirements resulting in the prolongation of the project.

Robert returned from working overseas to create the role of Business Development Manager / Senior Project Manager for an Environmental Consultancy and Contractor in the South East. Overall responsibility for new and existing client contact and negotiation, tender appraisal and bid submissions, marketing, advertising and operationally a responsibility to maximise resources thus strategic company profit.

In Project Management he has a proven track record in the specification of clean-up levels (including liaison with the statutory authorities) to ensure that sites are remediated to agreed standards, and preparation of the most cost-effective remediation design to achieve agreed levels. Robert is more than familiar with remediation techniques and targets and has designed and managed projects using in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation (BBRI Awards nominee 2006) and bio piling, soil screening and washing, thermal desorption, groundwater treatment as well as intimate knowledge of most remediation applications.

International Expert (Environment) / Public Utilities Supervisory Board – United Nations. United Nations (UNMIK), Rruga Nena Theresa, Prístina, Kosovo
As the United Nations' International Director for the largest waste management company in Kosovo Robert was responsible for the successful regeneration and redevelopment of the public utilities after the 1998/99 Balkans war.
Robert set up and coordinated (within the planned development of utilities sector and in close consultation with local and international representative and donor organisations in Kosovo) the provision of waste management services for 600,000 people. Legislative drafting.
He was responsible to the European Union and to the UN for 450+ staff, 5 of which were directors and 30 of which were senior managers. He was also uniquely responsible for business process re-engineering, financial structuring; contract introduction, negotiation and management; the facilitation of business communications; the general management; the initiation and coordination of ongoing projects (education, domestic municipal industrial operations, collection, disposal, disposal sites, revenue, legislation) and identifying specific needs. Knowledge transfer and management were extremely important. Reviewed and monitored all documentation and all activities.

Robert was with Land Clean since the company's foundation.
He was responsible for the winning and set up of the contracts (most valued in excess of £ 1,000,000) the commercial and project management and the resolution of projects and final accounts and claims.
The running of concurrent projects from cradle to grave on major environmental engineering projects required the management of up to 50 staff and personnel and liaison with external bodies and contractors.

He also held the role of Head of Training and Development for the company thereby ensuring that it obtained and retained its reputation as being the leader in one of the newest, highly regulated and most innovative industrial sectors.
