SUMMARY

I currently manage the technical operations of southern Indiana and former SusCom systems for Comcast. My cable career started on January 30, 1980 and I was promoted rapidly due to my dedicated service and strong electronics background. I have used a computer since the late 1970's and proficient in most software programs.

CAREER GOALS

To learn and implement new technologies as they become available through formal and hands-on training, manage my departments in an efficient and effective manner, assist all departments and continue to advance in my career.

EXPERIENCE

Jones Intercable, Olney, Illinois 1980 - 1981
Temporary Installer
My position was created by the introduction of block cable converters and the addition of Olney's first pay channel, Showtime. I performed all technical duties in the Olney system. Status was Temporary.
* Worked as Installer, Technician.

Jones Intercable, Olney, Illinois 1981 - 1984
Installer/Technician
I performed all installer and technical functions. For a short period of time, I was the only Installer/Technician in the system. I also performed rebuild and headend maintenance. I started the NCTI Chief Technician Course in 1983 using payroll deduction. I was allowed to combine all NCTI courses into one due to my strong background in electronics. Susquehanna Communications acquired the system in February of 1984.

Susquehanna Communications, Midwest 1984 - 1996
Regional Engineer
Responsibilities included overseeing all technical operations in the Midwest systems. I was interviewed and selected by the corporate V.P. of Engineering.
* In 1988, I was involved in the acquisition of the Mississippi systems before and after the closing. I inspected, recommended and submitted the requests for additional capital to bring the system and headend up to 450 MHz. This included calculating end-of-line performance numbers and the selection of modifications.
* My family and I transferred to Shelbyville, Indiana in 1990 to accept additional responsibilities of Plant Manager.
* In 1993, I wrote the procedures and implemented computer software to automate the Midwest systems Proof-of Performance testing. A system could be completed in one day, with exception of the 24 hour tests. This was used in all Midwest systems and was being considered to be implemented on a corporate basis. Tektronix showed interest in implementing it in their software.
* Instructed technical mangers during corporate technical meetings.
* Designed the system rebuild in Olney, Illinois.
* Nominated by the previous Corporate V.P. of Engineering to be his replacement after his retirement.

SusCom, Shelbyville, Indiana 1996 - 2003
System Manager
Responsibilities included overseeing of local marketing, preparing and monitoring of capital and operating budgets and day to day system operations.
* System was recognized by the NCTA for the successful launch of the first cable modems in the State of Indiana with connection to the Internet. System was the second system in the country to have more than one ISP using cable modems and the first to have more than two ISPs.
* System received the Excellence in Customer Service Award from the local Chamber of Commerce.
* Shelbyville had the highest OCF within the SusCom systems on a percentage basis from 1996 through 1999.
* Shelbyville received an award for Outstanding Operating Performance & System of the Year Award under my management for 1996.
* Designed and published Susquehanna's first web page.
* Designed and supervised the construction and transfer of the Shelbyville headend.
* Designed and monitored the Shelbyville system's rebuild from 245 MHz. to 550 MHz.
* Member of a corporate technical task force with the responsibility of designing and implementing the methods of training technical personnel.
* Negotiated franchise agreements with local authorities.
* Negotiated retransmission agreements with local broadcasters.
* Designed and implemented the fiber for lease to the local city/county fiber board.
* Negotiated the original agreements with 3 local ISPs to provide Internet connection using cable modem technology.
* Designed and determined methods of system two way activation.
* Negotiated and implemented the contract for Major Hospital's private WAN by connecting 3 remote sites using dark fiber optic cable.

SusCom - Midwest 2003 – 5/2006
Director of Technical Operations
Responsibilities include overseeing all technical aspects of the Midwest systems in addition to the system operations of the Shelbyville system. The systems were acquired by Comcast in May of 2006.
* I was offered a promotion to General Manager of the Midwest in 1999 by the President of Operations. Unfortunately, I declined due to the loss of my spouse's income and benefits would result in a negative impact on my family cash flow. The position required relocating to DuQuoin, Illinois. The System Manager position was eliminated.

Comcast
Manager of Engineering 5/2006 – 8/2006
Responsibilities included management of the engineering department for the former midwest SusCom and Comcast southern Indiana systems. Position was changed due to a transfer of the Manager of Technical Operations of the southern Indiana systems.
