Conversion (Singapore) of a 1975 built VLCC for Shell BC-10 field, Brazil
Accountable directly to the Engineering Project Manager (EPM). Responsible for approximately 16,000 engineering man-hours and a team comprising 3 Naval Architects, 1 Weight Control Engineer, 2 Structural Engineers, 3 Structural Designers and 1 Draftsman (a total of 10 personnel). Responsible also for approx. 9,000 engineering man-hours subcontracted to India, together with various hull structural analyses, subcontracted to both ABS and BV in Europe.
Responsible for planning and quality of all engineering deliverables relating to steel renewals, subcontracted hull analysis (ABS Safehull, BV VeriSTAR) and subsequent modifications to vessel, extended bilge keel design, vessel motions, sponson design, sea-keeping model tests, loading & stability calculations, weight control, life saving appliance specifications, accommodation and vessel arrangement plans, vessel refurbishment and conversion specification.
Responsible for developing and implementing a Risk Based Inspection Plan for the 20-year operation of the hull.
Close liaison with Classification Society (ABS) and client.
