3) June 2004 to June 2005: Veco / USA - Ken Marzocco - (360) 676-1500
Position: Pipeline Construction Manager/Superintendent
* -June 2004 to June 2005 -- Pipeline Superintendent on a Jet Fuel/Gas/Diesel/Crude Terminal pipeline project in Barbados, West Indies. 26km of 12", 10", 8" and 4" 100% NDT, FBE & CP. Veco / USA - Ken Marzocco - (360) 676-1500.
I would like to emphasize that I was the overall superintendent on the Barbados project. I supervised all the successful, safe pigging of the 10", 8", 6" & 4" pipelines on the project. Even with the many over, side, sag and mitered 3D bends, there were no problems. I was responsible for the management/supervision of the excavation, stringing, welding, coatings, NDT etc. to completion ready for testing. I continued on as superintendent through the cleaning, swabbing (in the case of the jet fuel pipeline over 26 runs of each), running of the gauging pigs, and final dewatering. As a final step I was also involved in the potential to run GE Smart Pigs to provide an as-built condition of the lines. This was determined not to be necessary as 100% of the welds were x-rayed to ensure the workmanship utilizing the local labor.
In the event of a stuck pig I would expect to have the mechanical engineering support for analysis of the problem, potential non-destructive solutions and then if all else fails assistance in the development of the necessary safe work procedures to locate, expose and cut out the problem section.
Valve station maintenance is generally a program that would be developed and mandated by the engineering team.The physical maintenance aspect is primarily the application of safe work procedures, development of a "what if" hazard analysis for the tasks required and as is the case with most everything having the plan in place for materials to be in place should replacement provide the most cost efficient solution versus maintenance.....time always being a critical path
