Power Plant Technician

* 26 Mega Watt plant consisting of 9 x 11kv and 12 x 400v(step-up) SR4B genset
Powered by 3516B Caterpillar's. Plus 12 x QSK50 Cummins gensets(aggreko).

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

* Repair`s, inspections and preventive maintenance on gensets, high volt equipment and installations..
* Fault finding and troubleshooting on gensets with CAT ET.
* Upgrades and new installation projects. High volt cable terminations.
* Worked on and familiar with ABB,Merllin Gerin and Moeller switchgear.
* PLC`s and controllers (DEIF)
* Switching and grounding of high volt equipment.

High Volt Technician

* Supervise and coordinate (hand's-on) installation's, maintenance and breakdowns on electrical equipment in power distribution system's. (11KV)
* High Volt cable termination's on fuse drop-outs, load breaks and trf's.
* Construction and installation off Overhead lines,poles,grossarms etc.
* Operated ground and insulation resistance tester's.Hi-Pot's+megger's.
* Fibre Optic cable installation.
* Generator and chance over switch installation.(primary to gen power switch).

Pervious Exp: South African Heavy Industry and Mining.
Electrician. Qualified 1986 (red seal).
Construction projects: Gasboilers and Ore tipper cars.(Columbus stainless steel)
Conveyer belt systems (Alusaf Richards Bay)
Air Con plant. (Sasol power station)

Extensive coal mine exp: (15 years ) Working on all aspects off the coal production environment as Electro-Mechanic(millwright).
* High Volt distribution and installation's
* High Volt protection, earth fault,overcurrent etc.
* Production machines: JOY and VOEST ALPINE cont miners. Feeder breakers, shuttle cars, roof bolters etc.

Goldmine: (2 years ) underground and surface.

* Crusher plant, Chiller plant, Hoist`s. Fans.
* 6.6kv distribution and installations.

Other Experience: * Vast mechanical experience, including rigging.
* Overhauled pumps, electric motors and gearboxes.
* Installed conveyor belt drives,110kw and up.
* Overhauled continuous miners and other coal production machines.
* PLC'S and MCC'S
* AC and DC variable speed drives.

Education:

* High school - grade 10
* College diploma - national technical certificate 3

Courses attended.:

* First Aid (grade 2)
* Maintenance of Flameproof Equipment. Gas Testing.
* H.T. protection and switching.
* Rigging
* Hydraulics. Filters and filtration.
* Motor controls. Variable speed drives.
* Flameproof electrical systems training AGE: 42 and in good health
