Job assignment was, working for 37 days under the direction and guidance of Fluor personnel, who are in charge of construction and maintenance on the Jade Platform and the F.P.S.O. Zafiro Producer. Replace pre-fabricated piping during shut-in on Exxon/Mobil's Jade Platform. Work involved removal of old piping and install new pipe consisting of steel and fiberglass pipe, used in production in various locations thru out the platform. Using information from P&IDs, Isometric drawings, and measurements taken on board the Exxon/Mobil F.P.S.O. vessel Zafiro Producer, I proceeded with the fabrication and installation of piping for a future module hook-up, being constructed in Europe. The work involved taking measurements, then over-seeing the crew performing the cutting, fitting, welding and installing the pipe in the overhead pipe racks, using proper approved rigging. All work was performed directly with the utilization of multi- national personnel on board the vessel. When I was the Foreman in the Fabrication Shop, my responsibilities required layout, cutting, fitting, and welding of all materials as needed for X-ray or U.T. using various types of electrodes and wire feed applications. My job also required assigning the job duties, and the over seeing, of 10 to 15 welders, fitters and helpers. Duties required are, use of Blue Prints, including P & IDs, and Isometric drawings, to estimate material for fabricating and welding jobs in shop. Projects included were, sub-sea pipe assemblies, riser piping, riser guards, boat landings, riser and anode clamps and various other components to make the offshore installation more efficient. When needed, I assisted in hydro-testing of piping and sub-sea assemblies, and then sent, the finished products to the Paint yards.
When I was an Offshore Welding Foreman, my assignments included the laying of pipelines using standard piping of many grades and hardness, Thru-Kote U.B. Epoxy lined pipe with internal sleeves, and concrete coated pipe of various diameters. I Utilized both internal and external line-up clamps, and various electrodes, on pipelines that were welded on. The pipelines included single lay, dual lay and triple lay lines with the building and installation of risers to complete jobs using some or all of the above pipeline certifications and welding codes. I was responsible for job assignments and positions on the pipelines for around 20 to 30 welders and helpers, depending on the size Lay Barge, Dive Boat, or Lift boat I was working on. As Foreman and C.W.I., I was often called on to review X-ray film on repairs to welds as needed. When diving operations were going on for clamp and riser installations, I worked directly with the Dive Supervisor to insure the safest and best ways to build and install parts from the welding aspect. I also assisted in hydro-testing when help was needed.
