Excavator experience is made up mostly of rubber tired backhoe experience and I have toyed with excavators in a wide open, in a place where level, neat is not so important, I doubt there is a place on the line for this type of work, and I could improve my profiency, but you never know so I am listing it. All utility work required attention to the safety of the men and machines around the work area. With this also comes the need to adhere to all easements and right of way, and respect for personal lands and property.
1) Backhoe utility work, required the removal of black dirt, and return of this dirt, as close as possible to original state. Swamps were needed to be walked across to support the Plow Cat, sometimes to create an anchor point should the cat become stuck, crane work for the removal large parts, reels and spools, carry supplies, remove rocks and obstacles (removed a buried car once) that become lodged in the plow. Remove gravel from roads to be plowed, dig out the plow so that it can be removed from the ground with out damaging the cable or pipe. ( helpful in tight areas), install services, and trench in tight situations, back alleys, fusion holes for Natural Gas, and splice pits for Fibre Optics and power cables. All excavations must be sloped for safety of the men and adhere to Government regulations.
2) Crawler Tractor experience includes, stockpiling, trimming, clean up to environment specifications, End dumping roads through swamping areas, Utility projects included plowing with various plow configurations, and the utilities were, Telephone, Fibre Optics, and Natural Gas
