I am seeking a challenging position utilizing my professional experience, skills, education, with motivation to grow and advance.

My capabilities have been achieved through many experiences which include training and support of in-house staff in multiple locations, while working on concurrent projects as a Sr Designer/Project Engineer.
The support includes the use Microsoft and CAD software. My experience spans the use of excel functions, such as logic equations and tools such as data links, assisting in the migration of data to and from CAD, reducing the need of redundant data entry.
A primary objective has been to focus on the improvement of productivity. By stream lining the design process; understanding local & regional jurisdictional standards and UBC codes. By using specific tools; road sections can be created, specific singular modifications can be made, benches at right of ways can be extended, cut/fill slopes modified,… as break lines are imported defining centerlines, flow lines, curbs and daylight boundaries. Subsequently; in highway design, drainage problems are identified, super-elevated curves are manipulated as speed changes effect site distances and in residential design, pad elevations projected. A 3D model is created,… rendered. With minimal effort you now can then provide volume calculations, quantity takes-offs and area tables using CAD tools and VBA/lisps.
My recent experience has allowed me to model in excess of 80 existing pipelines (tile drains); created within 5 pipe networks. In addition, proposed sewer, water and storm drain networks. The model included multiple surfaces; existing ground, multiple proposed rough and finish grade surfaces derived from a tentative tract map of a master planned community encompassed by of 3 major arterials. As well as the natural water level since the project was located at a negative surface level. The key purpose was to show the impact each existing pipeline had on the proposed and how each surface impacted each other. By cutting sections across model we were able to identify the multiple impacts, enabling us to alter specific pipelines, utilities and roadways as needed.
My experience includes many public works projects, from sewer and water extensions, to roadway widening, culvert crossings along with miles of overlay. I have assisting in the process identifying cost savings by eliminating excessive removals with the use of survey data verse proposed designs. This was achieved by manipulating roadway designs, adjusting site distances and other vertical design criteria.
Additionally, I am familiar with military environment and I have over ten years of experience working in the compressed gas industry; including the design, installation and maintenance of automated control systems for piping, storage vessels, cryogenic pumps, and vaporizers. Including the use of analytical hardware and processes used to maintain component purity.

In this brief summary, my objective has been to give you a small explanation of how my level of experience with the use of a continuously evolving software, can productively, through planning and with incite perform as a Sr Designer/Project Engineer.

SKILLS

Software AutoCAD, Land Development Desktop, Civil 3D, thru- 2008
Carlson, MapCad, Microstation, Terramodel
Haestad Methods; Storm CAD - Storm & sewer Systems
Microsoft: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint

Areas of Design Commercial, mapping, grading, drainage, engineered waste management plans Land Development, residential tracts, grading and earthwork,
Mapping, Final maps, Tentative Tract Maps, Permitting
Public works, utility extensions, roadway widening, rehab/overlays
Road design, widening, striping, rehab/overlays
Utilities; sewer & water, storm Drain.

During the time I worked with Engineering services I used core samples to identify coal seams within 4 adjacent permits. With client input the specific mining types were identified by seam. Using aerial topography a collective 3d model was built. Using contour, area or augur mining, an undercut surface was built projecting from down from upper most seam with defined slopes and benches. With the subsurface built a post surface is projected from the lowest seam matching the preexisting terrain unless added criteria were defined. Volumes were the extrapolated for spoils, reclamation and coal for each permit.
When I began with K & A Engineering I assisted in providing initial engineering services preparing lot studies, land use plans, utility layouts and tentative tracts maps, in addition to providing mapping. I lead the generation of a continuously evolving 3d surface with infrastructure for eight of twelve concurrent tentative tract maps for the Boulder Springs project.
Once final engineering was underway, I assisted in the prepared Rough Grading Plans, Street improvement Plans, Sewer and Water Improvement Plans. These plans included off site Sewer Lift Stations, 8,000 feet of off site sewer main with 5,000 feet being a force main.
Once Final engineering was underway on the Boulder Springs South project I began working on as the project engineer. This project was similar, starting with 334 lots on the tentative map. This project was intricate because the project was split by a 300' wide water course being crossed by a 6 lane arterial. The crossing requiring three 40' by 9' arch culverts. Additionally in order to provide secondary access to the second half of the project it was necessary to run an arterial to the nearest primary county route three miles away. This added a lot of coordination since the undeveloped land had existing tentative tract maps owned by multiple developers.
Working with Nolte Associates I worked on Canyon Heights which is a 400-lot subdivision rated as rural mountainous, which has slopes of 25% or greater. Beside the normal challenges, it was necessary to make drastic changes to the adjacent primary access road after new county ordinances upgraded its speed and capacity. In turn it became necessary to minimize right of ways, super elevated the cross-section to met speed requirements and enable site distance requirements to be met.
The project design included: constructing a grass-lined, trapezoidal, channel section in an existing unnamed stream bed; the construction of drop structures; a rip rap revetment to protect proposed homes; off-channel water quality basins and an existing, "in-channel", 65-acre-ft, detention basin.
Another stimulating project was for the City of Poway making improvements to Poway road (one mile). The project included the widening, the construction of landscaped center medians, pavement rehabilitation, restriping for increased street capacity and the reconstruction of an adjacent earth channel. Additionally, as part of the widening, the expansion of & addition of a box culvert, doubling the capacity was necessary.
