WORK HISTORY:

1993/1997 Welder/Fitter - CNC Plasma Operator
Butler Manufacturing Company
IH 35 San Marcos, TX. 78666
(512) 353-6100

Duties: Certified welder, Fitter, CNC Plasma Table Operator.
Brief Description of responsibilities:
Butler is the leading manufacturer of pre-fab metal buildings.
As Fitter/Welder:
I Read and Study blue-prints, Weld and fit end plates to structural components, Find any defect in component and finish weld, grinding and truing each component, Each component had to be finished and ready for the Paint Shop with my stamp and the of another welder which checked off on my work. I also checked the work of my co-workers and stamped off on their components only after: I looked at each weld for size, undercut, and porosity. Take measurements of components, length, width, hole placement, hole size, and straightness which had to be within a 1/16th of an inch from blue-prints. Attended bi-weekly safely class meetings, I always looked out for the safety of myself and my co-workers, and reported any unsafe practices and equipment to shop foreman. Work space clean-up after each shift. Maintenance on welding equipment, such as replacing 100lb coils of welding wire, nozzle and tip replacement, gun tare-down and replacement of gas tub, wire tub, and gun parts that would ware out.
As plasma operator:
I operated and maintained a dual cutting head CNC controlled Plasma Table cutting machine. Ordered metal from yard to make webs, flanges, and any other specialty parts to tolerances of 1/32nd. Kept logs of material, material used, material returned, drop material, and parts made. Programmed machine to cut each piece as said per blue-print. Used magnetic and vacuum over head cranes to move material. Made sure that parts came out on time and in order. Looked after the rest of the line which included: a flange hole punch operator, web to flange tack station, and sub-arc welder operator. I'd make sure pieces were in order and on time to be shipped to weld shop for finishing.
Contributions and learning experiences:
While at Butler I seen the company go through many changes. I was hired for a new program that would teach welders in house with teachers from different tech-schools from the Austin TX area. I received a four week in class welding, before starting. I apprenticed for six months with an experienced welder before setting off on my own. I seen butler go through a total tool remodel, and was chosen to learn how to operate the new CNC plasma machine, since I'd had shown computer experience and good organizational skills. While operating the plasma machine, I made many specialty parts that were used in the remodel such as: a fifty foot paint dip tank, large shelves that holds crates of metal siding material, roller conveyer systems, weld station tools, and paint booth parts just to name a few. Butler held bi-weekly safety class meetings were I've learned many important safely practices. I enjoyed this job very much and took pride in the pieces I made.
Reasons for leaving:
I gave Butler a three week notice. My farther pasted away and I decided to take over Dockside Restaurant so it wouldn't go out of business. Before I left, I trained my replacement for the plasma table.

Contributions and learning experiences:
I took over the business after my father passed away. Instead of letting the family business shut down, I decided I would take the business over.
The building was in very bad disrepair when I took it over, and needed many repairs/improvements. I remodeled the business acting as my own sub-contractor, pulled all the local building permits using contractors to do the jobs I wasn't qualified to undertake..
I have had many positive learning experiences throughout my ownership of the business. I have kept my "building" desire by remodeling and maintaining the building and the equipment. I've learned how businesses work and the time involved running one. I have learned how to get along with all sorts of people and attitudes. I have learned leadership skills that my staff would fallow and rarely had any problems. I think the most important thing I've learned is to be a part of the business not just an employee.
Reason for Leaving:
Divorce forced sale. I sold the business to my family.

Operated winch truck to remove larger pumps and valves almost on a daily bias.
Contributions and learning experiences:
I've learned more about electrical wiring I have no problem working with three phase or working on electric equipment, plus Heavy-duty valves. Preventive maintenance and personal safety

I left the city because the work conditions were too unsafe working around waste water, I was also offered a better wage and safer work conditions with another company.

Contributions and learning experiences:
I will never open another restaurant.
Reason for Leaving:
I was certain with my experience, that I could do good business there. Do to major road work in front of the business at the time the business was open it just couldn't sustain it's self, so I decided to close it...

2003-2004 Gulf Copper Ship Repair
4721 E Navigation Blvd Corpus Christi, TX
(361) 883-1040 Aransas Pass Location, Please speak to Lorenzo the head foreman.

Duties: I worked as a welder, ship fitter, valve mechanic.
Brief description of responsibilities:
Gulf Chopper is a ship repair facially that services naval station Ingleside's fleet of mine sweeper ships, and other privately owned large vessels. Gulf chopper has a floating boat dock, which was a 1942 Navy repair ship.
It was my duty to maintain this ship to strict navel codes. I would actually take pieces of rusted metal (I-beam, plate steel and pipe) from the ship and replace them; this was all inspected by the Navy.
I also worked on valves though out the ship and exercised them regularly. The valves sink the dry dock so the lager boat can be lifted out of the water, it was very interesting.
Contributions and learning experiences:
While there I learned many new fabrication skills they follow ISO9000:2000 I learned tig welding on presser vessels, joining chopper/nickel piping, and high quality heliarc welding,
Reason for Leaving:
Well I really liked this job, but it required me to work 84 hours a week, It was really affecting my family life.
There was also a very bad heath risk, many time I was welding in confined spaces after several months I could feel the effects from this, it was a hard decision but my health come first.

2004 - 2006 Lead Dock Builder
Grendwald Construction Company
Aransas Pass:

Duties: Crew foreman that builds boat docks at homes near the water.
Brief description of responsibilities:
Build custom boat docks, disassemble old docks then dispose of old materials. Set up for new dock, this includes preparing the site to get a reference so new dock comes out level. Unload wooden pilings that are eight inches by eight inches then rig them in the winch. These pilings must be set to hold the dock in place which means they are sunk under water using a jet hose.
Once dock is almost completed a boat lift is installed to lift boats out of the water.
This is not a easy job, the wood that is used is treated to expel the elements so it is very heavy, and I must life over 100lbs on a daily basis,
Reason for Leaving:
I left because this is a friends business and I just started to help him out. After two years working full time I never got a raise and wasn't making enough to support my family and working for friend is not good at all, but we remain friends.

2006-2008 Lead Dock Builder
Smart Docks Inc. www.smartdocks.com
Aransas Pass
Duties: Crew foreman that builds boat docks at homes near the water
Brief description of responsibilities:
Build custom boat docks, disassemble old docks then dispose of old material. Set up for new dock, this includes preparing the site to get a reference so new dock comes out level. Unload wooden pilings that are eight inches by eight inches by twenty foot then rig them in the winch. These pilings then must be set to hold the dock in place which means they are sunk under water using a jet hose and a lot of muscle to set them in place. I would keep inventory and order what was needed for get job.
Once dock is almost completed a boat lift is installed to lift boats out of the water.
Contributions and learning experiences:
When I started there were two workers, I worked with the owner and got another boat and crew in the water, then a third. I worked very hard keeping things together, and sadly after I departed they lost two of those crews. I also did all of the welding and maintenance work on the boats plus shop equipment.
If you look at their web site I built most of the docks.
Reason for Leaving:
I left because I've worked for them for two years and my paid is not much more than the job I had with Grendwald Construction Company and my bills were not being met therefore I must find other employment.

On a personal note:
I work really well with others, people tend to follow me and ask for my advice. I am very straight forward and I can keep people around by making the work day more interesting and solving a lot of turnover problems before they begin. I was taught this by my father, and has helped me gain many friends.
I watch over my other co workers, my motto is safety can always be improved. I have every good writing skills, and enjoy teaching people new trades. I always have the company's best interests on the top of my mind and always look for improvements, time is money.
I have loads of computer experience, while working for Butler I was also enrolled at South West Texas University my major was computer science; my minor was computer information services. After leaving college and Builder, I never perused it further. I do as a hobby design web sites and write electronic repair manuals. I constantly learn new programming languages and as of now the sites I operate pay the bills. I have also come of age so to speak, I'm now 35yrs old, I have had lots of opportunities in my life to go out and make a few mistakes, dealings with all kinds of people, I have become very electronically and mechanically inclined, I always listen to people that have more skills than I. I strive for perfection, both out of myself and install this into my co-works. When I work for a business that business does well, I believe a job worth doing is worth doing right, customer service is key, and in a lot of situations the after care of customers is just as important as the building for that relationship.
I believe I have a lot to offer a business that uses the skills mentioned above. If that business is Safety orientated, well organized, sets goals and always tries to improve it's day to day operations would win me over.
