SENIOR LEAD, LAB TECHNICIAN:
My duties surrounded the Assembly, Integration and Test on communication satellites. I installed flight hardware per payload requirements to the complete spacecraft for final flight. Integration of the communication panels onto the Bus Module, integration of tower assemblies, antennas and reflectors delivering a final assembled spacecraft to the launch base. Programs supported to the following spacecraft: Optus C1, DirecTV-5, DirecTV flights 5/7, Echo Star flights 8/9, Sirius CDRadio flights 2/3/4, Wild Blue, IPStar, MBsat, MTSat-1R, Satmex and Intelsat 9 flights 5/6/7.
Other assigned tasks included the training of technicians, coordinating teams at performing and completing the assigned tasks that had priority. NASA certified in flight harness, installed main cable harness and mate/demate of connecters and torque certifications. Flight bonding of structure, thermal compound adhesives. RF waveguides, switches, loads and TWTA's. Assigned a stamp for witnessing as a quality delegate, equal to QC quality control.
My main duties and assigned tasks were to perform the completion of Optus C1. I worked on Optus C1 for a little over two years before going to launch base down in French Guiana, South America. The program was handed to us by Japan who had started the build but soon found themselves in over their heads. There were numerous amounts of rework involving the troubleshooting of Radiated Emissions and Radiated Susceptibility (RERS). I supported the Acoustics and Thermal Chamber as well as the Compact Antenna Range. I helped design and install various types of off loading fixtures creating zero gees for antennas and reflectors. I worked with Thermal Engineers on installing new company designed passive intermodulation (PIM) blankets for preparing for the Optus C1 PIM test at David Florida Laboratory (DFL) Ottawa, Canada.

Assembly and hydrostatic testing of flight hardware for the following programs: Space Shuttle 'Booster Separator Motors', Tomahawk Cruise Missile 'MK 111 and MK 106 Motors', and Trident-D5 ICBM. Assembly and helium leak testing for the Tomahawk Cruise Missile 'Titanium Warhead'. Heat-treated flight components for Titan IV and Tomahawk programs.
Worked with design, manufacturing and quality engineering teams to implement new programs. Fabricated all the flight hardware totaling forty flights and eighty boosters of the Titan IV Launch Vehicles.

Worked with engineers to modify designs for more efficient shop fabrication.

1977-1980
Worked right out of welding school starting1977. I worked at four different companies, mainly with defense sub-contractors. Duties included completed layout, welding and custom fabrication with metals up to ten inches thick, rolling or forming with 800 ton press breaks on items like: nose cones, rounds, wing struts for F-16's, storage silos for MX missiles and forming mandrels for nose cones that went on the boosters for the Space Shuttle.

EQUIPMENT USED 28 YEARS:
Bench type and stand-alone type drill presses capable of drilling with bits up to three inches in diameter. Bridge Port mills, lathes of 24" diameter. Press brakes, from hand operated to those with the capability of bending up to sixteen foot long flanges. Familiar with all type of hand tools: dial and test indicators, micrometers, dial caliper, Height Masters, Height Gauges, Bore gages, thread, cylindrical, mass, torque, pressure, vacuum, force, and flow gages. and most all electric and pneumatic hand tools.

EDUCATION
Welding School certified structural steel and pipe 1978.
Attending online courses of the University of Phoenix 2001.
Attended ETSU (East Tennessee State University), working on my Engineering
Degree from 1995-1997.
Attended UT (University of Tennessee), worked toward my degree in General Engineering during 1997.
