I'm a 35 year old husband of 8 years, father of a 5 year old boy, and an 8 year old girl.
I'm looking to acquire a career in the mining industry, something with good benefits, and a pension I'm a heavy duty mechanic 3rd year apprentice. I have 5 years experience with off road equipment maintenance and repair on CAT, HITACHI, HALLA, LINK BELT, KOMATSU, SAMSUNG, KUBOTA, TEREX, along with 2 years rock crusher and drilling experience. AUG 00 - JULY 02. TOP NOTCH CONSTRUCTION, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Helped to maintain off road building equipment, lube and field service in the summer, shop work in the winter, welded for them when they were short welders. These guys had the most equiptment I've ever worked for they had in excess of 200 pcs then. Every year they'd go to Ritchie bros auction bring back a few machines and totally rebuild them from front to back. They had an engine bay as big as the shop I'm in now they had all the final drive tools, they had a 38' cylinder bench, they were the best equipped shop I've worked for, and I took part in every aspect.
1990 -1999. FLEXI - COIL, SASKATOON, SASK. I production welded air seeders for 2 years air seeder prep ran a 12' break press, 12' metal sheer, and iron worker for a year tool service, servicing punch plates, punch/form die sets, and drill bits. Lathes, milling machines, and surface grinder work. Special Projects Plant Services to build the new tillage plant expansion R&D I worked in Tillage, Barton openers, and air seeder prototyping. Case New Holland bought Flexi-Coil out and along with it offered all long term employees a buy out option. Most of us took it.
1988 - 1990. SMOOK BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION, THOMPSON, MANITOBA, Canada. Set up, tore down, maintained, and ran a cedar rapids rock crusher. I helped the crew that blasted our pits for us maintain their diamond drilling bits, and load holes. when ever there was a break down I'd help the heavy duty mechanic the company flew out fix equiptment after my shift was over. We worked two twelve hour shifts, 28 days in 2 days out.
