OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To manage and proactively support company's IT Systems and products to both internal and external customer's satisfaction. Administer operational routines to ensure smooth operations of critical systems and processes.
KEY OBJECTIVES
To proactively participate with management, members and other involved departments in the design, implementation, administration, maintenance and support of IT systems, applications and VAS (Value Added Services). To provide backup to the internal support desk personnel, second level support, escalating critical issues to the high level and follow up solutions on time.

* Administrator of billing systems and VAS systems-the systems is running in UNIX operating systems and the database platform used is oracle 9i

* Responsible for the design, development/customization/acquisition and implementation of new products/systems and services to be offered to MIC subscribers or to be used internally
* Development, administration and support of the company's intranet web pages
* Liaising with relevant departments (marketing, finance) and stake holders to ensure that the final product meet the specified requirements.

Database Applications Support
* Maintaining a current register of all Database applications used by the company
* Providing documented procedures for the operation and administration of database applications
* Pro-actively managing all database applications ensuring that they are running optimally
* Managing test environments that are used for systems development
* Developing, testing and deploying new systems and system add-ons in order to address fast changing business requirements.
* Formulating scripts and queries for database administration and operation
* Routinely testing relevant business continuity plans to ensure they are functioning
* Performing daily, weekly and monthly backups of all databases into backup tapes and storing them on the appropriate safe place.

* SUN SYSTEM-This is the company's financial system which involves the accounting, inventory and procurement modules
* MAINPAC-Maintenance planning software for maintenance of earth moving equipments and light vehicles on the mine.
* VULCAN-Software for mining engineering- designing of different mining structures for the purpose of mining
* FUSION CENTURY SYSTEMS-Software for designing of geological structures and geological analysis of data
* EDUCOS-Software containing Human Resources, Payroll, Training and Security modules
* TRACK-IT: It is a helpdesk system for supporting the IT infrastructure.
System Applications Support
* Customizing and supporting all client server applications
* Administration of the users and computers active directory
* Designing, maintaining and updating of the Geita Gold Mine intranet
End user Training and Support
* Training and supporting end users on different software applications
* Providing one-on-one training to users in order to address special requirements
* Attending software/applications problems that end users face on their daily activities and training them the best and simple procedures for them to be able to do their work
Server Administration and Network Support
* Maintaining all servers to ensure maximum performance and full time availability
* Troubleshooting different Network problems occurring on the daily mine operations
* Managing of Exchange 2000 Mail server and Domain Controller
Information and Communication Support
* Supporting of the Mine's TV Station
* Liaising with the telecommunication service providers(TTCL,CELTEL,VODACOM,AFSAT) to make sure that the mine operate interactively in terms of information and communication
Supervision and Training
* Assigning tasks and assisting junior staffs on the daily activities in the Information and Communication Technology department
* Assessing junior staffs performance and advice them accordingly to improve the quality of ICT services on the mine.
Selected Accomplishment
Geita Gold Mine Intranet
* Configured an intranet Server running on IIS 6 on Windows 2003 Advanced Server at Geita Gold Mine
* Developed the general structure of the intranet pages
* Trained users on each department for updating their departmental information on the intranet using Microsoft Front Page
* Creation of dynamic pages that read data from databases running on the platforms of Oracle, Ms SQL Server 2000 and Access 2000/2003
* The intranet server has different information that are crucial internally like
* An online telephone directory where users query for telephone numbers based on different criteria like by name, department etc
* An online inventory store repository where users can query to see what is the level of stock from SUN and Mainpac systems
* Designed and setup of an electronic forum where employees can exchange information and carry out discussions on the intranet.
Mainpac and SUN Systems Interface at Geita Gold Mine
* Created an interface between two systems Mainpac and SUN. Mainpac is an inventory, purchasing and maintenance software where as SUN system is an accounting system so there is a separate interface which imports certain information from the mainpac system to SUN system.

Selected Accomplishment
Developed a Warehouse Control System at General Tyre:
* The system has been divided into two front ends: the windows based and web based
* The window based application has been developed using VB6, SQL Server 2000 and Crystal Reports 8.5.
* The web based front end has been developed on dynamic pages using ASP and scripting languages (VBScript and JavaScript)
This System Keeps Information of Items stored in a warehouse. The nature of the warehouse is a warehouse which receive items from a factory (Products) and it issues these items to Customers and Branches. So the System Keeps track of the Item Movement, the way the items are Produced and issued.
There is a web based front end to this system to include the Branches so that it can track the items movement at the branches over the Internet. These pages have been designed using Dream Weaver, Active Server Pages, JavaScript and VBScript
The Basic Configurations involved in this Web Based Project
* Installation and Configuration of windows 2000 web server that runs IIS 5
* Installation and configuration of MS SQL 2000 Database Server that runs in Windows 2000 Server on another machine different to the Web server. Both the Servers are on a LAN
* Installation of Linux as a firewall and Configurations of NAT and Port Forwarding. NAT enables computer in the LAN to have internet access and Port Forwarding Enables the web server in LAN to be accessed in the internet
