PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The HJT-16 Kiran (HJT - "Hindustan Jet Trainer") is the Basic Jet Trainer Aircraft of the Indian Air Force, and is used for intermediate flight and weapons training for the young ab-initio Pilots. The Kiran Aircraft Simulator provides the trainee Pilot to learn the basic flying skills in a Jet Engine Aircraft with the required reinforcement especially useful in practicing the checks and procedures, vital actions and emergencies. The simulator facilitates practice of take-off, circuit flying, navigation, approach and landing at night.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS:

v JET ENGINE MODEL:

I had developed an Engine Model in Fortran Language Simulating the Performance of the Jet Engine used in the KIRAN Aircraft from Engine Starting, Takeoff, and Climbing, Cruise, Circuit Flying, Maneuvers, Engine Related Emergencies, Descend & Landing.
The Splitup of Engine Model is as follows:
* Engine Starting Procedures
* Fuel Consumption from Drop Tanks & Wing Tanks
* Fuel Quantity & Fuel Transfer Indication
* Engine RPM & Jet Pipe Temperature Indication
* Engine Flameout & Engine Relight
* Engine Related Failures & their Restoration Procedures

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27 is a Supersonic Swing Fighter Aircraft of the Indian Airforce used primarily in the Air to Ground Attack Role. The MiG-27 Avionics Part Task Trainer provides Conversion Training for the Squadron Pilots from Non-Upgrade to Upgraded MiG-27 Aircraft with the required reinforcement especially useful in practicing the Avionic Sub-Systems of the Upgraded Aircraft.

I had generated the Aerodynamic Coefficients (Stability Derivatives) of the MiG-27 Aircraft using a tool "DATCOM" developed by US Air force. These data were used in developing the Flight Model to Simulate the Aerodynamic Performance of the MiG-27 Aircraft for various
* Wing Sweep Settings (Take off 15 deg, Transition 45 deg, Supersonic Flight 72 deg)
* Mach Number
* Angle of Attack
* Sideslip
* Altitude

3. PROJECT NAME: LCA - ENGINEERING SIMULATOR
AIRCRAFT: LCA -LIGHT COMBAT AIRCRAFT (TEJAS)
USER: INDIAN AIRFORCE

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The LCA is a Lightweight Multirole Fighter Aircraft being developed by India to meet the requirements of the Indian Airforce. It is a Tailless, Delta Wing design powered by a single engine. The pilot-in-loop flight simulator, also called Real-Time Simulator (RTS), is a sophisticated facility that has been designed and developed for evaluating the handling qualities & the performance of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) & it's Flight Control System.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS:

SIX D.O.F FLIGHT MODEL:

A full fledged Six Degree of Freedom Flight Model has been developed to evaluate the Aerodynamic Performance & of LCA. Test pilots are using this simulator extensively for evaluating the handling qualities of the LCA. The role of RTS has been crucial in the LCA project, as this has led to more than 600 successful flights of various proto types of LCA. In addition to this, the facility is continuously being used to plan, and practice, mission sorties for most of the LCA test flights. I had modified the Flight Model with the following implementations

* Engine Performance Data
* Aerodynamic Data of Clean Aircraft
* Aerodynamic Data of Aircraft with Airbrake
* Aerodynamic Data of Aircraft with Missiles
* Aerodynamic Data of Aircraft with Drop Tanks

* Changes in the Flight Control Law & Autopilot

SARAS is a Multi-role Light Transport Aircraft Designed by NAL - National Aeronautical Laboratories, CSIR, Bangalore, India. Three Aircrafts were manufactured in TAAL - Taneja Aerospace & Aviation Ltd. Hosur, Tamilnadu, India.
