RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. NATURAL GAS (NG) AND LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) STATION (METERING STATION)

* Conduct regular station inspections for any abnormalities and to ensure gas station and its facilities are in good condition. Station inspection include district station, service station, area station, NGV station, residential regulator station, odoriser stations, LPG bulk station and LPG manifold station. This inspection will assess on supplies pressure inlet and outlet, regulator, filter pressure differential indicator, gas meter etc.

* Perform switching over dual run station, to test on critical device such as slam shut valve, monitor and worker regulator, pressure relief valve (PRV/PSV ) etc. Presently, controlling about 400 NG station, 70 LPG Bulk Tank Station, 300 manifold stations and more than 30,000 residential in Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur City).

* Lead a group of technician to service or troubleshoot on any emergency work occurred in the gas station. Expert in servicing and operating of gas regulator such as Bryan Donkin, Instromet, Tartarini, Fisher Controls/Francel etc. The system is currently using is Slam Shut Valve, Monitor/Worker regulator, OPSO and Relief Valve concept.

* Execute others Preventive Maintenance schedule in order to maintain gas station in good working order. These PM inclusive:
-Pressure Recorder paper chart monthly change out
-Battery and fibre tip pen change out
-Meter lubrication (rotary and turbine)
-Paint touch up for prevent corrode
-ACR function test (for LPG)
-Soft part change out for Crical Devices (regulator)
-etc

2. NATURAL GAS (NG) AND LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GAS ( LPG) PIPELINE

* Responsible for the natural gas feeder pipeline (360psi) after regulated down from 700psi at city gate stations, distribution line (60 psi) and service line (5 psi) before supplying to industrial, commercial and residential areas in Peninsular Malaysia. Currently, my accountability is to supervise and monitor nearly 100km gas pipeline steel and PE pipe of several gauges laid underground of Kuala Lumpur city center i.e. from NPS 2" to 16" of steel pipe and from 20mm to 125mm of PE pipe.

* Plan and execute pipeline inspections to assess any indication of potential leakage or malfunction and abnormality of the gas distribution system. Implemented a systematic approach to detect any third party activities in the vicinity of the gas facilities.

* Monitor Cathodic Protection (CP) data (corrosion control-sacrificial anode type) for every 6 months to check on current flow through anode/magnesium.

* Inspection on Insulation Joint (IJ) and Spark Gap performance to ensure that the CP current does not flow to the aboveground gas station and cause undue depletion of anode. To protect insulation flanges sets and pipeline from lightning strike and fault current.

* Inspect all pipeline steel and Polyethylene (PE) valves for its gear box/actuator, valve seat/body greasing and the chamber condition as well. Sealant activity is required if there is symptom of leaking at the valve through cavity point.

* Perform pipeline leakage surveillance activities to identify any gas leak along pipeline route by using mobile detector such as FID, CGI, OMD ( optical methane detector – mounted to vehicle ) etc.

* Conduct tracer wire exercise to enable buried PE pipe to be located as well as steel pipe which normally used if there is a trial pit activity by third party. Competent in using various wire locator types such as Radiodetection, Heath, Fujitech etc.

* Establish pipeline integrity management as guidance to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection system, pipe coating and corrosion The mandate is to ensure the integrity of the pipeline running under and aboveground along the route. Presently, pipeline current mapper equipment is used for the purpose.

* In-charge of odoriser stations where odorant is added into gas to give strong smelling material which gives a destructive warning odor to Natural Gas in order to alert of gas leaks. Conduct odorant intensity level check at the user end and to standardise level odor (1 over 5 o the lower explosion limit).

* For LPG pipeline which transporting 5 to 10 psi gas pressure and normally using MDPE pipeline to the residential area similar activities being taken to avoid any interruption of the gas supply. This system is using manifold cylinder 50 kg and bulk tank of capacity 1000 liter to 32000 liter.

3. OTHERS TASK

* Being an on-call personal technician on rotation monthly basis to respond for any emergency work after office hours. Need to be a first responder to arrive at site within 45 minutes.

* Involve in pipeline and station commissioning on the new project upon completion, this activity related on N2 injection, purging, flaring and gas volume detection.

* In charge on small section of LPG stocks control which is duty to check on stock balance at site. Manage on stock check, order and receiving activity for LPG cylinder manifold and bulk tank system. Assign personal to receive stock at site and ensure all instruction and procedure to be complied. Emphasize on safety concern especially during LPG refilling by tanker.

* Responsible on office files and drawing management which covers entire NG's and LPG's handover document including its content. To ensure the entire important item such as as-built drawing, ATI, ATO, manual kept accordingly and comply with internal SOP procedure.

* Responsible to maintain company vehicles as per maintenance schedule.

PROJECTS:

1. LPG Bulk Tank Re-qualification works

* Involved on LPG bulk tank re-certification project which required for inspection after 12 years of the tank-manufactured year and every 7 years subsequent to the first recertification year.

* Every year we did conduct 2 to 4 tank for this project and took three months to completed.(For 2008 there will be 22 bulk tank stanby to recertification)

* To ensure all contractor works shall comply with Malaysian Code and Practice MS 830: 1984, MS 930: 1986, Gas Supply Act 1993, Gas Supply Regulations 1997, MS 641 and the relevant specifications referred herein.

* To monitor fabrication to supply temporary manifold during activity.
* To monitor and conduct de-commissioning of bulk tank (flaring and zero gas)
* To monitor and conduct disconnection all fitting and piping.
* To monitor and conduct entry into confine space (bulk tank) for internal cleaning.
* To conduct and verify inspection of thickness gauging (approved by JKKP and prepare for NDT contractor).
* To monitor and witness pneumatic test (with JKKP)
* To conduct functional test.
* To monitor painting and tagging activity
* To monitor and conduct re-commissioning.
* To monitor disconnection all fitting and piping at temporary supply system

OTHER PROJECTS:

1. Hot Tapping For NGDS to PETRONAS NGV at Segambut. Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Malaysia, etc.

2. Hot Tapping For NGDS ( Relocation )at Shapadu Highway/ Meru, Malaysia

Supervise and witness of all the activities of hot taping from the safety, exposure and examination of pipeline, fit up of split Tee, welding of split saddle and inspection (MPI, RT and UT), pressure testing, perforation and line commissioning to ensure follow the Approved hot taping procedures. Comply with ANSI/ASME B31.8 and API 110

3. Mass Balancing at restoration area of LPG System

This exercise was conducted due to imbalance profit getting compared to expenses. Potential of leaking especially in the aging used pipeline may contribute gas loss along the way. So that manages a group of technicians to conduct pressure testing and excavation to find out the gas escape point and to repair it immediately.
