CAREER

Expediting Co-ordinator : Major Belgian EPC Contractor : Aug 2002 – Present
Responsible for the co-ordination expediting activities of critical orders for the final phases of a project to construct an LNG Terminal in Portugal.
After joining the project at quite a late stage the role involves liaison with elements within the project team as to critical orders and equipment that require urgent expediting of goods and documentation.
Now preparing procedures and work-instructions for the expediting on a forth coming project for the construction of an LNG Terminal in the northern Norway.

Documentation and FM Controller : Hunterskil Howard Projects : Mar 2001 – Jun 2001
Employed as a Documentation and Facilities Management Controller on MOD projects in Central London.

Procurement Co-ordinator : ILF Consulting Engineers : Nov 2000 – Dec 2000
Employed as a Procurement Co-ordinator for an LNG Pipeline project in Kazakhstan.

Senior Engineer : Hitachi Zosen Europe Limited : Dec 1995 – Nov 2000
Dec 95 – Sept 97 Initially employed as a Senior Expeditor and then Assistant Expediting Manager of plant and ships’ equipment in London and Osaka, Japan. Responsible for up to 120 vendors at any one time involving regular travel within Europe and the Far East as the principal expeditor for Thai Oil Mixed Xylenes plant project valued at US$22m, Mitsui Vina Plastic and Chemical Co. PVC plant project in Vietnam valued at US$40m, and, SIP in Indonesia PVC plant project of US$50m. Ensuring compliance with specification, and the on-time delivery of equipment and documentation. Whilst working in the Far East, responsible for negotiation and procurement of local area project equipment. Attended witness inspections of rotational equipment, electrical systems and switchgear cabinets, compressor systems, piping and valves within Europe and South East Asia.
Sept 97 – May 98 Seconded to Hitachi’s Ariake shipyard as an Assistant Expediting Manager in the International Procurement Department, responsible for the co-ordination of global expediting activities for the construction of the West Venture II fifth generation semi-submersible drilling rig valued at US$260m.
May 98 – May 99 Commenced work as an Assistant Manager in Post-Contract Administration Department at the Ariake shipyard for the West Venture II, duties including the co-ordination of documentation for customer and vendor change/variation order requests. To liase with legal consultants in the UK and Australia, then to interpret and aid in the formation of policies based on advice provided.
Using MSProject 98 produced the construction schedule for the West Venture II in anticipation of financial and delivery negotiations concerning change/variation order requests.
Jun 99 – Nov 00 Returned to London as Senior Engineer in the Plant Shipbuilding and Offshore Business Division. Other duties include the sourcing of new/emerging technologies, using the internet to research into current financial and market trends in the offshore, petro-chemical, manufacturing and allied industries.
Achievements:
Successfully expedited Thai project for on time start and significantly reduced delivery times from purchase order.
Saved Hitachi up to US$150k at Ariake by presenting well-researched advice limiting expenditure on vendor change order requests.

Internal Engineer : Durco Processes Limited : 1995
Employed on a temporary contract as an Internal Engineer supporting sales staff selling pumps and valves to the petro-chemical process industry. Duties including confirmation of stock availability and production lead times, and the compilation of final CE documentation packages.

Archive Clerk : Bowmans Loss Adjusters : 1995
Responsible for sorting, referencing, inputting onto a database, and then filing historical files.

Engineering Co-ordinator : NMI Safety Systems Limited : 1993 - 1995
Responsible for sales and marketing, purchasing, office administration, design and production planning, for the manufacture of seat belt systems for various local authority Social Services vehicles. Liaison with suppliers and customers, and the expediting of bulk materials.

Engaged on commercial building projects.

Database Input Clerk : British Steel : 1991 - 1992
Temporary contract to break down plant machinery drawings to component level for data input onto an item master maintenance database. Maintaining contact between spare parts suppliers and works to ensure availability of spares.

R&D and Junior Design Engineer : Spice Engineering : 1989 - 1990
As a team member designing and manufacturing prototype and R&D components for Spice WSPC Group C sports cars with values from £150K to £250K.

Earlier Career
Started as Apprentice Turner with Rose Forgrove Ltd in 1980. Qualified in 1983. Following short period of basic training in HM Forces (REME) moved to Rose Bearings Ltd in 1984 as Production Engineer. In 1989 joined VSEL as Production Engineer on nuclear submarine components.
