MANAGER of GLASS MANUFACTURING PLANTS

Reporting to Group Owner, he managed 200-250 employee plants producing automotive architectural,and applience safety glasses .He was responsible for production ,sales and customer relations,new investments and cost control.

Under his management, in 1988 newly established plants acquired approximately 40 % of the OEM market in 3 years with trade marks TEZCAM and TAMCAM and the percentages are almost the same nowadays. The competitor group , Sise-Cam ,which is monopoly in float production and supported by Isbankasi ,has the rest of the percentage .The group supplied glass to almost all OEM’s in Turkey (Fiat, Renault, Ford, Isuzu, Chrysler, Mercedes are the main ones) and Dogus Ltd. which is the largest aftermarket glass distributor .

He managed to get ECE R43 approval as the first manufacturer in Turkey through Utac/France in 1990 even before Sise-Cam Group did. The plants acquired ISO 9002 and QS 9000 in 1994 and in 1998 respectively.

The groups total annual turnover was approximately 50 million US$ including other types of glasses ( building, kitchen appliences etc.) and glass trading.

Almost in every year during his employment he made new or modernization investmens according to the market demands. He attended glass machinery fairs every year and found most recent machinery and equipment and bought from the best machinery suppliers with least prices together with group owner.

The companies he had business relations are SIV (Vertical Bending. and Tempering, Horizontal Complex Bending and Tempering), Tamglass (Horizontal Bending and Flat Tempering, Laminating), Uniglass (Horizontal Flat Tempering) ,Glassrobots (Laminating Lines), Cougher(Printing Lines), Bavelloni(Double Edgers, Washing Machines), Lisec ( Insulating Glass Lines), Bottero ( Automatic Glass Cutting, Grinding lines , Double Edgers ), Cannon/Italy ( encapsulation plant) and many others.

Lately he managed the investment of a new architectural and kitchen appliances plant , to separate physically the manufacturing of automotive and other safety glasses , and a mirror production line from Kloepper which can produce 2 million sq.m of mirror ,in addition to his regular duties .He applied MS Project as project managing software. The new plant consisted of 18000 sq. m closed area with a 6 million US $ new machinery added to 25000 sq.meter closed area existing plant which produces only automotive glass from then on . The capacity of the new plant is 2 million sq.m of safety glass per year. The capacity of the existing plant is 500000 car sets per year.

Efes Pilsen Breweries Istanbul /TURKEY
PROJECT MANAGER

He was employed by the Efes Pilsen Breweries ,which is owned by AEH (Anadolu Industrial Holding) ,as the Project Manager of an at that time planned new Brewery in Ankara and moved Istanbul for only one year to complete the projects and purchase of the machinery and return back to Ankara to realise the investment. But , the investment was postponed by the board of directors of the Group. Instead, they decided to extend the existing three breweries in Istanbul, Izmir and Adana. Therefore he stayed in Istanbul and realised these extension projects . He worked in close cooperation with the Managers of these three existing plants , but all the project preparation and purchasing of the equipment have been realised by him centrally , with the help of german advisors.In the last two years in AEH Group , he worked as technical director of TAF and SEFAS companies which were overtaken by AEH Group.The first company was dealing with manufacturing and exporting of detergents, the second manufactured fluted cartoon packages.Both companies were founded initially by the same owners on the same area.Later , since the owners could not pay back the export pre-financing credits taken from Annex Co. which was fully owned by AEH, most of the shares were given to AEH and a three members committee in the name of AEH started to manage both companies . He was one of the members who was responsible for production and exporting of detergents and production of fluted cartoon packages. In that two years , the production capacity of detergent plant was doubled and 18000 tons of detergent was exported to Algeria. Fluted cartoon plant was run very effectively too, most of the production was sold in Turkey. One of the members of the board of directors of AEH was the owner of the safety glass manufacturing group mentioned above and he needed a company manager , and since AEH Group had difficulties at that time too, he accepted the offer of the member and transferred tothe glass manufacturing group as Glass Manufacturing Plants Manager.

Taksan Machine Tools & Manufact. Co Ankara/TURKEY
PROJECT MANAGER

Taksan was establishing an integrated Machine Tools Manufacturing Factories complex in Kayseri/Turkey under licence of WMN/East Germany and TOS/Czechoslovakia companies at that time. The total investment amounted 500 million US $ and consisted of mainly one foundary, one central gear and gear boxes, one milling and boring machines ,one automates ,and one grinding machines plants with 120000 sq.m. closed area. He was employed as Project Manager of Milling and Boring Machines Plant. Under his management , plant lay-outs were prepared, machinery and equipment were provided, buildings and auxiliary facilities were completed and trial production was planned. He quitted Taksan on June 30,1982 and joined Efes Breweries Group of AEH.

CHIEF MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Tustas offers mainly engineering and conculting services to industrial establishments. During his stay in this company he worked for the investment of Divrigi Pelletizing and Concentrating Plants for iron ore which belong to state owned Iron and Steel Works Co.Under his management, the native made equipment were designed ,contracts awarded, installations were controlled and acceptance tests made.

He started in Metag as design engineer ,after he returned back from Germany to finish his Master studies, since it was possible to work during M.S. studies.In this company he worked mainly for Cinkur which was a mining and metallurgical company and was in investment phase at that time.His duties consisted of design and procurement of locally provided equipment according to rough specifications prepared by companies Canadian SNC , West German KHD which were responsible for the process and know-how of the whole project.On June , 1975 he quitted Metag to prepare his M.S. thesis and afterwards to complete his military service.On July 1,1975 he finished his short term military service as reserve officer and during the service, he attended the thesis jury and qualified to gain his M.S. degree on July 22, 1975.After completion of the military service, on October23,1975 , he worked in Metag Co. again, this time as Chief Mechanical Engineer and worked for and finished the Lead Plant projects of Cinkur.

DESIGN ENGINEER

On Oct. 1,1971 , he quitted Kronprinz A.G. on his own wish , and started in the design office of Special Machine Tools section of Richard Hofheinz und Co. company. In this office he worked for developing and designing of half automatic, multihead ,special tool machinery which ordered by customers (e.g. car manufacturers) , and capable of producing the same pieces in big quantities ( 20000 ,30000 pieces per year).He worked there until June 30,1973 and return to Ankara to start his M.S. studies, since the permission of the University was expired.

DESIGN ENGINEER

As will be seen in the following education section, in October 1970 he started his M.S. studies, however in Spring 1971 the studies were interrupted due to student movements at that time. With the permission of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University , he started working in Kronprinz A.G. Solingen /Germany , in order to gain professional experience and to learn German language on April 1,1971.Kronprinz A.G. was one of the biggest in its field in Europe which mass produced tire rims for automotive industry OEM .He worked in the design office to develop and design of an automatic welding machine which would be used in new production line of tire rims.
