Duties And Responsibilities

The Construction Superintendent's task is to coordinate and to supervise the activities of the Construction Discipline Supervisors to ensure that the works are executed in accordance with the project specifications and documents, HSE, quality and schedule are always of utmost importance.
Superintendents are also primarily dedicated to the prevention of potential Extra-Works.
Directly responsible to the Construction Manager. As the head of the construction line, the Construction Superintendent ensures that the works are completed as rapidly and as economically as possible and in complete accordance with the specifications and other project documents.

The Construction Superintendent has the task of coordinating and supervision the activities of the Construction Discipline Supervisors in charge of each type of works.

More particularly, as follows:

- studying all specifications and other project documents; implementing the applicable construction procedures

- informing the CM of the progress of the works and any occurrence in his area that may affect Project execution

- checking the capability of the members of the Field Organization to perform their tasks correctly and issue individual appraisal reports to CM

- monitoring with the Field Engineer Manager, the availability at site of engineering documents according to the work schedule

- supporting the CM on maintaining relation with Subcontractors for the entire duration of the works. Obtaining from them all information required about available resources, construction equipment, etc

- ensuring that Subcontractors collaborate with each other and maintain good relations in the general interest of the project

- obtaining utilities and services for Subcontractors, providing determining their distribution to site and temporary Subcontractors site facilities

- ensuring the completion and maintenance of the Temporary Construction Facilities area/s

- taking part in all planning meeting and ensuring that the construction works proceed in conformity with planning decisions

- coordinating with Discipline Supervisors and subcontractors the shot-range schedules of activities and checking their compliance with the construction schedule

- monitoring with the Safety Engineer, that all the safety regulations in force at site are implemented

- monitoring with the CM and Material Management the availability of materials at site according to the work schedule

- assigning to Discipline Supervisors the field areas of responsibility and coordinating the execution of inspections in accordance with the Construction

- organizing periodical planning meeting and ensuring that the construction works proceed in conformity with planned decisions

- supporting CM on approving Subcontractors lifting procedures for heavy and large equipment and verify the execution of the relevant activities accordingly

- supporting CM on approving Variation Orders and Extra-Works Orders. Nurturing and developing a cost-conscious attitude in the discipline coordinators and assistants

- ensuring that Non-conformity resolutions are executed according to the approved operative procedures

- supervising the execution of Mechanical Complition construction activities and ensuring that the punch list are executed correctly and rapidly

- ensure that the Subcontractors at all times have sufficient and up-dated engineering documents and ascertain that the necessary materials are at Site in order to guarantee the regular progress of the works

- Supervise the activities of the Subcontractors, checking the availability and maintenance status of construction equipment and also the correct employment of equipment and manpower

- give his assistance whenever construction schedules have to be revised;

- approve, exercise close supervision, keep careful cost control over all activities connected with variation orders and extra works orders
