STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Structural Engineer

ARCADIS (GIFFELS) 2002 to Date

* FORD ROUGE:

I worked on analyzing and reinforcing the various truss types such as Pratt and warren trusses for the Ford Rouge Project. The Ford rouge project is in the vicinity of 2 million square feet.

* GM WORLWIDE FACILITY GROUP:

I was on contract at GM for about 7 months during which I was responsible for large projects. I analyzed existing beams, columns, trusses, etc. and determined whether the existing members needed reinforcing based on the new loads. I then prepared a report that I submitted to the estimators to provide a cost estimate. I checked the possibility of upgrading crane capacities for various plants. This required an analysis of existing crane girders, columns, and foundations.

I also performed the required analysis and calculations to establish new presses. In some cases, I devised a scheme to raise the bottom chord of trusses to accommodate a new press with a higher crane. Moreover, I attended meetings, and prepared RFPS¡¦s, request for professional services.

* GM LAKE ORION:

I surveyed many bays in the field, and then analyzed the existing trusses under the current loads to determine whether the trusses needed reinforcing. Further, I reinforced the deficient members so that they can withstand the current loads without their being overstressed.

* GM PONTIAC:

I surveyed the field conditions, and calculated the pipe loads. I then analyzed the purlins, carrying trusses, and jack trusses to determine whether they would be overstressed under the current loads. This analysis was needed for anchor points.

Structural Engineer

HarleyEllis 2000 to 2002

* I worked at HarleyEllis for 2 years, where I designed both Steel Structures, and Reinforced Concrete Structures. I interacted with the Architects in order to meet both the structural, and the architectural criteria. As a result of my diligence, I met the deadlines for the assigned projects.

* Western Michigan University:

I designed the College of Engineering, from preliminary design through CD. I designed the floors, and checked the diaphragm. I also designed the Columns, the Base Plates, the Moment Frames including the Moment Connections, the Braced Frames, and the foundations. In addition, I designed all Masonry walls. As a result of this project, as well as previous ones, I am proficient in RAM Structural Systems, RAM FRAME for Wind and Seismic Analysis and Design, as well as RISA, PCAMATS, and ENERCALC.

* University of Cincinnati ¡* CARE¡¨ Structure:

This is a Reinforced Concrete Structure. I sized the beams, girders, as well as columns by hand. Then, I input these preliminary sizes into the RAMADVANSE program, a Finite-Element program for the Analysis and Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures, where I finalized the design.

* University of Cincinnati ¡* Medical science Building¡¨:

I analyzed the ¡* MSB¡¨ where major renovations were suggested. The building is an R.C. Structure with a joist-pan system. As a result of the suggested openings in the floor, I analyzed the joist-pan system, the beams, and the columns for deficiencies via RAMADVANSE, and PCA COLUMN. I entered the various load patterns, and checked the joists and beams for both Shear and Bending. Due to the suggested openings in the floor, I checked the adequacy of the diaphragm. Further, I suggested the needed solutions for the joist-pan, beams, Girders, and Columns.
* GM Shreveport:

Moreover, I Analyzed and designed part of the Shreveport structure which consisted of 100 Trusses from which additional loads were to be hung. This required an Analysis in order to determine whether the trusses needed reinforcing. According to the plans, I imposed all the necessary loads and modeled them in RISA where I performed the Analysis. In fact, I collected the data for the 100 Trusses, modeled and analyzed them in two weeks. Where reinforcing was needed, I performed the calculations by hand based on both the old and new sections, i.e. taking residual stresses into account, in order to determine the required reinforcing.

Structural Engineer

A.R.A. Inc., Structural Engineering Consultants 1999-2000

* OFFICE BUILDINGS:

I Designed the whole floor system for Composite Beams and Girders for the second and third floors, and Non-Composite for the roof for various projects via RAM structural Systems. Designed the Columns, and the Base Plates for these projects. Checked the calculations for representative Beams, Girders, Base plates, and Columns by hand. Designed the Isolated Footings, the Wall or Strip Footings, and the Retaining walls for these projects by means of ENERCALC. Performed Vibration Calculations for the above projects.

* WAREHOUSE/TILT-UP BUILDINGS:

I designed the Vulcraft systems for Tilt-up buildings, such as Office Max and Office Depot. Designed Joists, Joists Girders, Columns wit h a provision for a Future Mezzanine, Base Plates, Isolated Footings, and Wall Footings.

* I designed the above projects for Seismicity and Wind according to the UBC 1997 codes. Performed the Lateral analysis for the Diaphragm, Sub-Diaphragm, and Braced Frames. The design included the Nailing schedule, Struts, and Wall anchorage. Designed the Tilt-up Panels or Shear Walls for the In-Plane and the Out-Of-Plane forces.
