SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Recruited to direct P&L and all facets of planning, scheduling, and management of a $17 million brownfield development project for a construction/environmental clean-up company. Oversaw bid preparation/review, formulation of construction plans, implementation of quality management and site safety measures, recruitment/supervision of field crews, and creation of project timelines and budgets. Sourced subcontractors and other vendor resources. Continued to serve in senior capacity after transfer of construction contract from CET to Kanoa. Monitored project status to ensure that safety, quality, scheduling, and cost objectives are achieved.

* Facilitated seamless transition of contract between CET and Kanoa with no schedule delays or loss in productivity.

* Resolved substantial scheduling delays and field work issues and put the project back on track within 3 months. Completed all remaining work scheduled prior to rainy season shut-down despite late permit approvals and missing design information.

* Successfully avoided a one-year schedule delay by engineering completion of the most critical project milestone (relocation of Refugeo Creek). Met specified deadline despite a major unanticipated environmental clean-up of contaminated material discovered within the creek corridor.



ARCO ALASKA, INC., Anchorage, Alaska 1998-2000

RESIDENT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Oversaw field construction and installation activities for the $750 million Alpine Oil Production Development in the remote Alaskan Arctic. Planned, directed, and delegated work of 4 major contractors with a combined work force peak of 900 personnel and a contract cost of $100 million. Orchestrated set-up/operation of living facilities and utilities at the site. Directly supervised site management team of 48+ professionals.



* Managed the first-ever relocation/movement of heavy process modules (1500 ton) over sea ice to a remote project site.

* Met all scheduled project objectives and recovered lost schedule time from previous year.

* Managed complex logistics of the installation of a major facility at a remote site where no access road was permitted.


SEMBAWANG MARINE & OFFSHORE ENGINEERING, Singapore 1997-1998

PROJECT DIRECTOR

Led construction and P&L of a $110 million 250 MMCFD gas production platform, controlling engineering, procurement, fabrication, and offshore installation at Myanmar. Managed broad base of subcontracts and Asian subcontractor crews.

* Successfully operated within established schedule and profit margins on an extremely competitive lump sum bid contract.

* Organized and managed a multi-cultural project management team of 50 professionals that included Singaporean Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian team members.

* Effectively managed fixed price contract for detailed process platform engineering on an extremely tight schedule.



BAYSIDE ENGINEERING GROUP, INC., Lynden, Washington 1997

PROJECT MANAGER

Provided project team leadership for an engineering company that rendered civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering support to oil refining and other industries in the western United States. Established and maintained project schedules, minimized costs, and oversaw quality for upgrade/improvement projects in existing facilities.



ATLANTIC RICHFIELD COMPANY (ARCO) 1980-1997

SENIOR SITE REPRESENTATIVE — ARCO REMEDIATION (LOS ANGELES) 1996 - 1997

Directed field activities for the execution of a $3 million waste remediation project (Colorado), a $3 million acid tar stabilization project (Pennsylvania), and a $4 million oil field clean-up project (California). Interfaced extensively with the public, private owners, and regulatory agencies.

* Achieved project completion on time and within cost objectives despite limited technical definition and challenging circumstances.


RESIDENT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER — ARCO CHINA, INC. 1993 - 1995

Managed construction planning and field execution for the fabrication/installation of the $1.2 billion Yacheng 13‑1 offshore gas production/processing platform (250 MMCFD) and jacket installed in China. The work included managing a $50 million process platform fabrication contract (Singapore), a $15 million transport/installation contract (China) and a $10 million jacket fabrication contract in Indonesia.

* Delivered completion of fabrication/installation work within specified
budget and scheduling specifications despite engineering changes, material
delivery problems, and a very tight schedule.

* Organized/managed multi‑cultural fabrication site team of 30 professionals.


PURCHASING MANAGER — ARCO ALASKA, INC. 1991 - 1993

Directed the central purchasing function for all ARCO Alaska operations, controlling up to $200 million in annual purchasing activity and a staff of 20 professional and clerical personnel. Challenged to significantly overhaul department operations, cut costs, and improve service.

* Captured $20 million in cost savings on purchased equipment and supplies.

* Made significant reductions in the purchasing department staff while maintaining high performance standards by restructuring organization and modernizing operations with implementation of best practices in the industry.

* Enhanced performance by introducing concepts such as bench marketing, client feedback surveys, self-directed and cross‑functional teams, performance measurements, and improved supplier relationships.

* Eliminated 50% of purchase order paperwork by developing paperless electronic purchasing transactions.



RESIDENT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER — ARCO ALASKA, INC. 1987 - 1991

Managed construction program for development of Kuparuk Oil Field in the Alaskan Arctic. Supervised a staff of 18 and handled up to $50 million annually in fixed price contracts for development, upgrade, and repair projects in support of crude oil producing operations.
