ROLE SPECIALIST – Approvals and EMC
RESPONSIBILITY Working as an EMI/EMC, SI and RF design specialist for various product, like Set Top Boxes (Satellite, Cable, Terrestrial), Universal Media Player etc. Provide consultancy to various project team from design to production phase, for EMC compliance. Support the client based in UK, as a critical resource for most of the project.
Project 1 Offshore Development Center (ODC), UNITED KINGDOM (U.K.)
(Onsite/Offshore)
* The work is on design and development of digital Set Top Box (STB). Work on more than 32 different STB's including satellite, cable, terrestrial and IPTV.
* Work in U.K. for long (>6 month) and short (1-2 month) term projects.
* Work as part of the developmental design team, involved in the product development from conception through final release, ensuring EMC compliance.
* Product design review (schematic, PCB, mechanical drawings etc) for EMC. Provide EMC guidelines to the engineering team.
* Carry out pre- & post- EMC compliance testing and diagnosis of the product in the client site in UK & ODC center. The in-house test facility includes – Anechoic Chamber (3m), ESD, EFT & Surge generators etc and Broad-band Antenna, EMI receivers (7 GHz), LISN, Spectrum Analyzer etc
* EMC compliance testing and validation including preparation of the EMC test plan and establishing working relationship with external Certified Test Labs (SAMEER- India, ETDC-India, York EMC Service Ltd – U.K., KTL Test Lab – U.K.) and Certification bodies (UL).

* The work is on designing Universal Media Player (UMP).
* Work as part of the design, RF and the mechanical team. Involved from initial stage of designing till final testing and compliance work.
* Mitigate various EMC design challenges in integrating DVB-H, WLAN- antenna & RF front end with Core & DDR while maintaining the compactness.
Summary: UMP is a portable multimedia player that integrates A/V entertainment, storage and WLAN in a slim platform. A/V entertainment includes playback of DVB-H content and capability to view the output on TV. Support for Audio playback on speaker/headphone and audio recording is provided. For storage functionality, it has internal HDD and also includes support for Micro-SD card, USB Memory Stick.

SEP 2005 – MAR 2006 FLEXTRONICS DESIGN LIMITED, Bangalore, India

ROLE EMC Compliance Engineer
RESPONSIBILITY The major responsibility is to verify EMI/EMC compliance on all the product, design and development in the center. Develop working relationship with the external test facility for EMI/EMC (SAMEER, ETDC) and the certification body (UL). Responsible EMI/EMC related issues in design and development.
Project 1 SUN-MICROSYSTEM, USA
* The work is on design of a thin client (network computer w/o storage).
* Assisting design engineers from the initial stage of circuit design, component selection, placement and PCB layout and routing.
* Undergo pre- & post- EMC diagnosis. The final test has been done in the external lab (SAMEER) and the board passes all EMI/EMC test (emission and Immunity) required for EMC certification.
Project 2 WORLD SPACE SATELLITE RADIO (WSSR)
* The work is on designing the world space satellite radio (first DSP Satellite World Space receiver in regard to its functions and man-machine interface).
* The board is designed considering the complexity involved in integrating the high-speed board with the RF board.

SEP 2002 – AUG 2005 Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai sponsored research cum
Industrial consultancy project in Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T)-Kharagpur

ROLE Research Assistant
RESPONSIBILITY The work is an R&D cum Industrial consultancy project on analyzing Electromagnetic Interference (E.M.I) resulting from pulses of different shapes and duration and their effects on electronic system.
* Investigation of E.M.I from the complete High Power Copper vapor Laser (CVL) system. Design and analysis of the Laser head configuration as well as modeling the excitation circuitry. Experimentally verified for EMC compliance.
* Interacted with the reputed R&D labs in India like LRDE-DRDO and ISRO for EMI/EMC testing as per MIL-STD 461.
