The project consists of a 5 star hotel with 223 rooms with conference centers, shops and 129 luxury apartments and a marina. Total project value is 1.3 billion dollars.

Structure Team.

My current role and responsibilities with in the structure team are to excavate and prepare the sub grade and pile caps to the correct RL's, coordinate the backfilling, pour blinding and construct masonry walls to take the waterproofing. Coordinate the waterproofing installation and tying and placement of reinforcing for caps, raft slabs, all post tension coordination and the pouring the concrete.

To organize and coordinate all site activities and site deliveries for concrete, concrete masonry, waterproofing membrane and reinforcing and site cranage plus the general duties associated with this position.

Currently coordinate 3 subcontractors, 12 foremen and 200 workers.

Upon completion of the structure to coordinate and manage the fit out of the hotel.

Training Manager.

Prior to the commencement of the structure my role and responsibilities were to design and implement a series of hands on workshops to up skill our supervisors and general workforce.

The workshops to date have covered:

Health and Safety.
Hand tool identification and use.
Power tool identification and use.
Laser level set up and use.
The use of strops, slings and chains.
Mobile scaffolds
Correct use of ladders
Formwork

In conjunction with my role in the structure team the training is on going with the retraining of some personnel until they achieve the required standard.

The key objective of the training is to up skill our workforce and thus increase production.

The project consists of adding 14 stories on to an existing 10 story, 5 star hotel while it remains fully operational. My component was the coordination and management of the top two levels for penthouse apartments and all associated construction works, fit out and services, approximately 16 million dollars. Total project value is 110 million dollars.

The project consisted of 5 levels of basement car parking, two levels of teaching space including 5 lecture theaters, 4 case rooms and computer laboratories. The tower consisted of 5 levels of offices and open plan teaching spaces. Total project value is 250 million dollars.

Accountabilities

* Responsible for all construction activities within the defined Subcontractors package scope – insitu reinforced concrete, reinforcing, proprietary flooring, precast units and Tower fit out ( 150+ subcontractors ).
* Liaise with Project Manager on all construction issues and provide technical/ logistical and method input.
* Ensure the works are managed and completed within the Fletchers Quality Assurances plans and in accordance's with the contract documents and current legislation.
* Liaise with the Client, Site Architect, Engineer and Quantity Surveyors. All Subcontractors and site personnel. Programme and co ordinate the three tower cranes on site.
* Logistical management in conjunction with the Project Manager for all site plant, deliveries and all site activities.
* Maintain detailed records of progress, instructions issued, Health and Safety issues and corrective actions required.

Achievements.

* Established a good working relationship with OSH, consultants, subcontractors and client representatives.
* No serious lost time accidents to date
* All sectional handovers completed on time and to budget
* Project completed on time and to programme.

I reported directly to the Project Manager and my role was monitored under the performance criteria of Costs, Quality, Safety and Relationships.

The project consisted of a new 14 level Hospital in conjunction with the refurbishment of 2 levels of Starship Hospital which remained operational. I managed Fletcher Construction, Fletcher Construction Interiors and the Auckland District Health Boards contractors in all Health and Safety and Infection Control requirements on site. Total project value is 230 million dollars.

Accountabilities.

* To conduct Site Safety meetings on a regular basis with contractors on the site to discuss safety matters, concerns etc and actions needed.
* To develop an Emergency Evacuation Plan for all sites
* To consider any special activities on the project with regard to special hazards and develop appropriate control methods and ensure they are put in place and communicated to contractors/employees working on the project.
* To ensure regular site safety inspections are undertaken, any observed hazards or unsafe acts are recorded and remedial actions taken.
* To collate Accident Frequency Ratings (AFR) and any other statistical information.
* To review all SMP for all subcontractors and make comment.
* To investigate all accidents and incidents and report to project management / the client and OSH as required.
* To meet with all consultants, client representatives, contractors and senior management prior to commencing work on site to brief them on what FCC / FCI / ADHB expectations are of all personnel in respect to there SMP and H & S requirements and legislation.

Achievements.

* Managed the snagging teams to complete sectional handovers as per programme.
* Maintaining and Accident Frequency Rating of 0.89 for the project.
* Compliances with all subcontractors Safety Management Plans.
* Established a good working relationship with OSH, consultants and client representatives.
* All external audits complete to contact requirements.
* Achieving an OSH site rating of 1.
* All infection control requirements maintained as per all permit requirements.
