Group Manager- Industrial Services – Power Generation/ Pulp & Paper 2007 – 2009 Responsible for overall group leadership for a division performing work at multiple Power Generation and Pulp & Paper manufacturing locations throughout the United States. Contracts involve multi-year environmental engineering and contracting services to our industrial and manufacturing customers. The division revenues were improved by 20% and net profit by 50% during this period as Group Manager. Clients include AbitibiBowater, Alabama Power Co., Boise, Dominion Energy, Duke Power, Georgia Pacific, Georgia Power Co., Gulf Power Co., International Paper, Temple- Inland and Weyerhaeuser.
Senior Project Manager- Civil Construction & Mining Projects 2005 – 2007 Responsible for project management of the following projects:
* General Project Manager – Deerlick Creek Coal Mine Project, Tuscaloosa, AL –Contract mine development, overburden removal, and production coal mining for mine owner. Coordinated mine planning and development, productivity analysis, and served as key point of contact to mine owner. Overall leadership for cost control, scheduling, and personnel administration.
* Project Manager – Campus Pointe Development, Knoxville, TN - Distressed Project required take-over leadership from a bankrupt owner after being purchased by a customer of Saiia Construction. Project was completed successfully as a take-over by our management team.
* Project Manager – Temple Inland Ash Pond, Rome, GA – Project provided a creative solution to coal combustion product disposal involving a vertical expansion of existing landfill.
Jones Brothers, Inc. –Heavy Construction, Mt Juliet, TN 7/2001 – 11/2005
Senior Project Manager/ Estimator - Responsible for project development, negotiating land and ROW agreements on multiple DOT projects, project estimating, contract negotiation, cost and schedule control, project management and pre-construction services for multiple divisions nationally. Served as the key point of contact on multiple public and private projects through bid preparation, contract negotiations and award.
Koester Companies, Inc.-Heavy Excavation Division, Evansville, IN 10/1993 – 7/2001
Southeast Regional Manager 1999-2001 -Responsible for expanding Koester Companies, Inc. excavation services to the Southeastern United States by providing overall leadership in securing new projects and managing operational processes through Chattanooga, TN branch office. Secured and/or managed the following projects:
* Project Development/Pre-construction - Nashville Super Speedway, Motorsports Track Development Contract, Lebanon, TN
Responsible for pre-construction services, bid preparation and contract negotiation for a $25 million contract for the development of a motorsports park and associated infrastructure improvements. Completed on-time and under budget.
* Project Manager - Wal-Mart Perishable Food Distribution Center- Site Development Package, Shelbyville, TN
Negotiated $6 million project for the site development and infrastructure construction of a 400,000 square foot distribution center. Coordinated construction and engineering activities with local utility companies, municipal boards, and code enforcement on behalf of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Project completed on time and under budget.
Manager of Project Development 1997-1999 - Responsible for overall development and implementation of divisional business plan, market analysis, and strategic planning with a focus on increasing negotiated/preferred bid list project opportunities. Responsibilities included team leadership, developing new customers, forming partnership agreements, contract negotiations, and project estimating/management support. Significantly increased project opportunities and increased division revenues which resulted in a listing in Engineering News Record's Top 400 Specialty Contractors and Top 10 Landfill Contractors.
Project Manager/Cost Estimator 1993-1997 - Responsible for bid preparation/management of commercial, residential and industrial site development – Multi-use, residential, highway, airport, coal mine reclamation, utility, landfill, environmental remediation, and multiple other heavy civil projects. Project management experience included the following:
* Project Manager- Memphis International Airport, Runway 18-36 East, Site Preparation Contract, Memphis, TN
Responsible for overall project coordination and construction planning for $18 million, two year contract for the construction of a runway, parallel taxiway, and taxiway extension. 4.5 million cubic yards of earth moved and 35,000 lineal feet of storm drainage. Responsible as the key contact for the Airport Authority, Program Management firm, Federal Aviation Administration, and design engineering firm. Project involved over 100+ size workforce, cost and schedule control, budget administration, coordination of subcontractors and DBE participation, material procurement and delivery, Critical Path Method progress reporting, project documentation, invoicing, and change orders.
* Project Management Staff - Toyota Tundra Truck Assembly Plant, Site Preparation, Princeton, IN
Overall leadership and site coordination for a new auto assembly manufacturing facility. Responsible for project administration and management for multiple new construction contracts in excess of $20 million including progress reporting to the Toyota owner's team, design engineers, monthly Critical Path Method updates, invoicing, budget and cost monitoring, daily progress reporting and documentation, and reviewing subcontractor billings.
Farrell Development Corporation, Memphis, TN 12/1991 – 9/1993
Project Estimator/ Project Manager / Field Foreman - Construction management of multiple retail, restaurant and commercial development projects. Responsibilities initially involved field management of labor crews and subcontractors.
