Construction Manager – SIDRA Hospital, Doha, Qatar
SIDRA hospital is the vision of the Qatari Royal family, the Client is the Qatar Foundation and Qatar Petroleum. The main Contractors are Contrack and OHL and KEO are the consultants. Designed to provide, the only seven star hospital facility in the world, with state of the art cutting edge medical technology of the day.
Seconded to Voltas as part of the KVC (Kentz, Voltas Consortium) to oversee and all mechanical works on the Out Patient Clinic Building.
Total contract value in excess of $400m.

2. Period from Sept 2008 – April 2009: Qatar Kentz Engineering and Constructors – Doha Qatar
Construction Manager - CB&I RFSU1 Harbour Project, Ras Laffan, Qatar
Executed a civil focused project for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company (CB&I) on the Shell Pearl GTL Tankage project. Assimilated and embraced the highest levels of HSE in accordance with the owners (Shell GTL Ltd Qatar) and main contractor (KELLOG, BROWN & ROOT) and those of the Local Authority RLIC (Ras Laffan Industrial City). Developed schedule for the completion of 4000m³ of concrete structures and buildings associated with fuels storage plant. I supervised a crew of multicultural field construction superintendents, supervisors and general foreman on-site. I implemented value engineering changes, oversaw approved site change orders, field changes and planned modifications on the job site – prepared, tracked and coordinated changes with the client and engineers. Complied with client's stringent Quality Assurance and Quality control requirements and submission format for documentation hand over and close out.

3. Period from Jan 2008 – Aug 2008: Qatar Kentz Engineering and Constructors – Doha Qatar
Construction Manager - Shell Waste Water Treatment Plant (SWWTP) Irrigation Project, Ras Laffan, Qatar – Full EPC
Coordinated and managed all day to day activities of (local sub contractor), specialist vendor. My wide background also includes successful negotiation of contracts and change orders, along with implementing procedures to inspire the sub-contractors, suppliers, and workers to perform and succeed. The Shell Pearl GTL irrigation project was designed to distribute through 3 designated irrigation areas a total capacity of 8020m³ treated sewage effluent per day, all centrally controlled on a GRPS network. Effectively implemented, assisted in training and controlled all our clients HSE requirements to effective completion of the project on schedule and in budget without any LTI's. Provided many value engineered solutions with our client when faced with difficulties commonly associated with long distances and remote areas.
Total contract value in excess of $11m.

4. Period from Jan 2007 – Dec 2007: Qatar Kentz Engineering and Constructors – Doha Qatar
Construction Manager- Linde Camp, Ras Laffan, Qatar, Pearl GTL Plant – Full EPC
Fully responsible for the day to day management of all construction activities associated with the running of a 3,000-man camp construction project. This includes embracing and implementing stringent Safety & Quality Requirements of the owner (SHELL GTL LTD QATAR) the main contractor (KELLOG, BROWN & ROOT and JGC Japanese Gas Company) and those of the Local Authority RLIC (Ras Laffan Industrial City). Further, to provide direct links between site and engineering office, on-site supervision of all trade disciplines, management of subcontractors, direct dealings with client on site and in co-ordination meetings on company's behalf, including: Management of information, Programming/Scheduling, Purchasing, Costs, Snagging, Hand Over, PAP'S, Vendor Technical Evaluations, Vendor Tender Negotiation and Co-ordination with local authorities.
Total contract value in excess $70m.

5. Period from Jan 2006 – Dec 2006: Qatar Kentz Engineering and Constructors – Doha Qatar
Construction Manager – Fluor camp, Ras Laffan, Qatar – Full EPC
Responsible for the day to day management of all construction activities associated with the building of a 10,000-man camp. Management and oversight of the Pre-fabrication building erection phase. My responsibilities included providing a direct link between site and engineering office, on-site supervision of all trade disciplines, management of subcontractors, direct dealings with client on-site and in co-ordination meetings on company's behalf. Additional functions: Management of information, Programming/Scheduling, Costs, Snagging, Hand Over and PAP'S. Embracing and implementing stringent safety measures to ensure safe-working and timely completion to budget.
Total contract value in excess $116m.

6. Period from June 2004 – Oct 2005: D. Zavos Group Developers – Limassol Cyprus
Building and Civils Project Manager / Construction Manager
As project manager I was responsible for projects that varied from multi-storey hotels refurbishments and luxury mansions to villas and townhouse complexes. My architectural background enabled me to rework design issues that enabled the projects to proceed on time. Additional responsibilities typically included management of subcontractors, direct dealings with client on-site and in co-ordination meetings on company's behalf. D. Zavos is the largest developer in Limassol and fourth largest in Cyprus.
Typical contract values $4M - $40m.

7. Period from April 2003 – May 2004: ESS Design & Build (Compass Group) - Kuwait and Iraq
Project Manager / Construction Manager for building temporary military camps
My responsibilities included the Site Management and Development, Scheduling, Purchasing (Local and International), Logistics, Vendor and Sub contractor Management, Supervision of Electrical, HVAC Generation and the direction and control of all construction and maintenance teams. As the lead on this project, high level direct dealings with the client on site and co-ordination meetings were a daily routine.
As a consultant for thirteen months, hired on a short term contract, I was responsible for all piping construction in Kuwait and Iraq and all other general maintenance in Northern Iraq. The environment was very testing with a positive attitude a logical approach and excellent co-ordination skills, we achieved over 15 sites in total.
Typical contract values $ 8m.

8. Period from May 1998 – April 2003: Performance Networks - Johannesburg, South Africa
Project Manager / Construction Manager for telecom networks installation
The project programme was most demanding, the technology was new and the resources unskilled. Part of my role was to work with the raw recruits to illustrate and train them in the ways of construction and telecoms. Of the various projects one included the installation of micro-cell repeater sites for Vodacom S.A. Another groundbreaking wireless network for SAPPI (South African Pulp and Paper Industries) and a 4000 wireless user network supported by a Microwave backbone for the Platinum mining industry in South Africa.
