Project Manager, S&P Marine Consultants and Services (Thome Group).

Project Manager for Construction of 4 numbers of Anchor Handler Tug Supply Vessels for NFC, Norway in Cochin Shipyard, India. Lead a team of Engineers to ensure the vessels are built to good ship building standards.
Key responsibilities include;

Head a team of Engineers to ensure vessel built as per Owner's Technical Specification / Contract. Identify deviations, and ensure good shipbuilding practice is followed. Project management of the new building project, maintaining proactive liaison with the shipyard, Classification society and other maritime authorities concerned. Foresee any possible delays, keep Owner informed of the same and discuss with yard to arrive at a practical solution to overcome delays.
Provide bi-monthly progress report to owner, including defects raised, status of machinery, electrical, hull outfits, change order, critical areas of concern etc. Ensure no cost overruns. Ensure commissioning of machinery and systems to owner and class satisfaction prior to delivery of the vessel. Ensure all applicable guarantees and documentation from Yard and Classification society handed over to Owner prior to delivery.

2006 - 2007
Project Director, KazStroyService, Kazakhstan.

Initial appointment as General Manager Contracts and subsequently promoted as Project Director for the installation of Gas pipeline and construction of associated facilities for a 90 KM gas pipeline Project for AGIP KCO. As Project Director, responsible to the Deputy General Director Operations for the timely completion of the Project. Over see all Sub-Contracting and Project execution activities within the stipulated time frame and budget allocation. Responsibilities include liaison with the Main Contractor & Client, conduct review meetings, evolve strategies to smoothen Project progress, evaluate shortfalls and advise corrective measures, establish & implement systems, constant monitoring of Project related systems and policies in line with Contractual Obligations.

2005 - 2006.
General Manager (Plan), TEBMA Shipyard Ltd, Cochin Shipyard complex, Cochin.

Took up assignment on special request to streamline operations in as short a time as possible. As a Senior member of the Management team, was entrusted with the task of ensuring that the Construction activities were carried out as per the planned sequence and in line with the contractual terms and good Ship Building standards. The company was venturing into construction of PSV's for the first time and therefore my main task was to ensure that all personnel involved were thoroughly aware of the complexity of systems, system requirements and system functions. Functions of the department comprised of the following;

* Plan Project Construction Schedule to ensure smooth flow of project activities and meeting of project milestone.
* Plan lower level activities.
* Review activities that are behind schedule so that corrective action can be taken.
* Track Engineering, Builder Purchase Equipment and cutting Plan. Highlight areas that are behind schedule so that correction action can be taken.
* Study and work out manpower breakdown and optimum manpower utilization with distinct variation presented on peak and low load periods for each project so that construction can be executed with proper sequence and with optimization of manpower and equipment.
* Track the Project expenditure with regard to the Project Budget and submit reports to the Project Manager clearly indicating the cash flow.
* Prepare weekly Cost Control report both descriptive and graphical highlighting the expenditure with respect to manpower, material and equipment utilization for the week.
* Monitor commercial performance and cost control
* Prepare Trial and Test protocol for equipments/machinery.

2004 - 2005.
Project Manager, Keppel Kazakhstan LLP, Aktau, Kazakhstan.

* Lead Manager for setting up of Shipyard. Liaison with state authorities (Environment, Architecture, Hygiene, pollution control board etc). Vendor development, tendering, Contracts management of the construction of Shipyard facilities.
* Responsible for establishing and implementing Shipyard Systems which included in addition to Project Management systems, Commercial, Procurement and Information Technology.
* Project Manager of 154 MUSD Project awarded by AGIP KCO. Reporting to VP Operations on all Project matters. The Project department Comprised of Planners, Costing/Estimating Engineers, Document Controllers and Site coordinators, reporting to the Project Manager. Chair meetings of core group of the Project team. Keep track of all aspects of the Project from Project budgeting, reporting, schedule, chair meetings with Owners etc.
* Head of Commercial, Procurement and IT departments for a major part of my tenure in addition to my responsibilities as the Project Head.
