RESEARCH:
a) Did research work for Expansive Properties of soils of 'Gadra Road Sub Branch' (design discharge 38.68 cubic metre per second) of Indira Gandhi Nahar (Canal) Project (Rajasthan: India). On the basis of world-renowned soil scientist Dr. R.K. Katti's earlier studies, the soils of Gadra Road Sub Branch were declared as expansive. I studied the soils and concluded that the soils are not expansive and do not require any special treatment. This saved Rs. 28.7 million (US $ 0.65 million) and construction time by two years.
b) Did research work for identification and treatment of Dispersive soils of Ambapura Earthen Dam (Rajasthan: India). The Pin Hole, Crumb, Double Hydrometer and Chemical Test on soil samples were performed. Other tests for engineering properties of soils were also performed. The literature on dispersive soils was also referred. It was found that many samples of the embankment soils contain dispersive soil. The rehabilitation works were designed for the restoration of the dam embankment.
c) Research was done on deficiencies of the two minor canals (each having design discharge of about 15 cubic feet per second) of Gudha Irrigation Project (Rajasthan: India). The combined culturable commanded area of the two minor canals is 1,000 hectare. The two canals were improved. There after studies were made to observe whether the two canals are performing as per design parameters. The result was negative. Observations were made on the behaviour of canals and suitable measures were suggested to correct the deficiencies.
