Senior Legal Counsel contributing on the development of the future world largest copper mine (start of production planned for 2009, 100.000 t/year)
-Created and managed the Legal Department, and established its strategy (hiring collaborators and subcontracting with 3 domestic and international legal firms)
-Developed and entertained good relations with the Congolese Administration (at the State, Provincial and District levels), the NGOs and the trade-unions, through reports, meetings and on-site visits
-Identified and obtained from the Administration, permits and authorizations necessary to the mine development activities, such as wood-felling, use of explosives, import of goods
-Reached compromises on four land conflicts with locals

-Diagnostic and strategy: facilitated the Company's investment decisions by assessing political climate & analyzing legal framework through overseas missions ; as a result, received approval for exploration in Kazakhstan, Russia, Mali and Madagascar -Implementation: enabled the opening of subsidiaries, JV or branches by elaborating and applying strategies for investments (in Madagascar: COGEMADA, in Niger COGEMA-Niger, in Kazakhstan KATCO)
-Negotiations: provided legal advice for AREVA's world-wide mining activities by drafting and negotiating mining conventions, joint ventures. Two mining Conventions were drafted and negotiated for AREVA's subsidiaries in Niger in 2002 and one Mining Convention was successfully negotiated with Kazakhstan the same year.
-Development: actively contributed to the development of two uranium mines in Kazakhstan, and for exploration to take place in various countries, by negotiating as a team-member with state agencies and trans-national mining companies.

-Prepared and negotiated two proposals for which the CEPMLP was shortlisted -Simultaneously, taught Mineral Law and Policy course to 40 postgraduate students/professionals coming from the Industry, NGOs and Governments: reaching a 100% success rate at the final exam
-Facilitated a better understanding by the Indonesian professionals vis-à-vis foreign investors by working as a team-member on a training mining policy mission financed by Rio Tinto in Bandung, Indonesia. The 30 participants were members of the mining industry and government,
