SUBJECTS/CLASSES:
Environmental Physiology, Plant-Animal Interactions, Data Analysis (Statistics), Global Environmental Change, Plant community ecology, Plant physiology, Taxonomy, Plant conservation & Biodiversity and Problem solving. Laboratory Practical classes, Critical analysis of scientific journals/literature during weekly journal club meetings.

We had regular field trips and work projects. Very familiar with collecting, analysing and presenting data. Regular report writing for class projects and thesis.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
FIELD & LAB WORK
* Field experience as required for BSc degree and as part of thesis. Have a good understanding of many quantitative methods used in habitat surveying and ecological sampling, which I would like to build on and refine. Worked in a wide range of habitat types e.g. dune complex, mudflats, estuarine, woodland, heathland, karst limestone.
* Have a good understanding of the procedure carried out to complete Environmental Impact Assessments and the writing of Environmental Impact Statements.
* Lab experience as required throughout BSc degree and during final year project. Intensively examined on scientific method and laboratory skills to ensure a high level of competency.

COMMUNICATION
* Team player, working alongside others during projects, field & lab work, job posts etc.
* Highly experienced in dealing with customers, suppliers and working as part of a team.
* Close communication with environmental consultancy (BEC Consultants) during my thesis project.
* Excellent spoken, written and telephone manner. Plenty of experience using all forms of professional correspondence.

ORGANISATIONAL & LEADERSHIP
* Joint founder and committee member of TCD Botanical Society (176 members). As social secretary my responsibilities included organising society events, guest speakers, handling petty cash and keeping members updated and informed via email and web forum of the society's activities. Organised each of the social events, fundraisers and meetings e.g. organised a college class trip to Bull Island, Clontarf alongside the Irish Orchid Society.
* Secondary school Prefect during 5th and 6th year. Prefects were required to be dependable, efficient and organised individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.

PRESENTATION
* Represented BotSoc at the Board of Irish College Societies Awards (BICS, Dundalk '08). Underwent an in depth interview in front of three judges while presenting a detailed portfolio of the society.
* Presented final year thesis in front of entire Botany Department, including past and present lecturers, post grads and undergrads. Carried out regular PowerPoint presentations in front of my peers and lecturers as part of subject courses.
* Presented work for the Young Scientist of the Year Awards during secondary school, which was highly commended by the judges.

COMPUTER SKILLS
* Excellent knowledge and regular use of office suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc). Have completed and passed European Computer Driving Liscence as part of my secondary level education. Have used and been examined on use of Minitab, Datadesk and PCord statistical packages. Very efficient keyboard skills.

LANGUAGES
* Very good spoken and written Irish, as well as Leaving cert level German.

OTHER INTERESTS
Keen interest in many sports including basketball, volleyball, horse riding and golf. Also enjoy reading, music, gardening and other outdoor activities, hiking etc.
