MANAGEMENT OF CONTAMINATED SITES

PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS / AUDITS

* Conducted Phase I environmental assessments of oilfield and commercial properties throughout Canada. The scope of work included a detailed historical search, air photo interpretation, identification of potential environmental impacts, associated environmental liabilities, and report writing. As a result of the Phase 1 assessment many intrusive assessments were undertaken.

* Conducted numerous Phase 1 environmental site audits for oil field acquisitions.

PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS / SOIL AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING

* Acted as a project manager for numerous intrusive subsurface impact assessments of various operating and decommissioned oilfield facilities. Work included scheduling and organizing work activities, obtaining permits, and performing public relation duties.

* Prepared detailed project reports and recommended remedial options for contaminants such as hydrocarbons, salinity, and metals. The report preparation included review of aerial photographs and historical information, data analysis and interpretation and impact volume estimation.

* Supervised the removal of hydrocarbon impacted material from oil field lease sites, private, and public lands.

* Conducted numerous groundwater well surveying and monitoring programs at various oilfield facilities. Provided recommendations for the remediation of groundwater in problem areas. Alerted clients when hydrocarbon levels were suspect and provided guidance on where the hydrocarbon impacts may have originated.

* Water sampled wastewater lagoons in accordance with an AEP approval. Provided and implemented solutions for the client when approval parameters were not being met. Recommended numerous solutions for the prevention of future approval non-compliance occurrences.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

* Conducted numerous Electromagnetic (EM) / Global Positioning (GPS) surveys using a frequency domain GEM 300 multifrequency tool combined with a Trimble Pro XL GPS system with real-time differential data correction providing guidance and precise estimations of impacts for clients.

* Conducted numerous Electromagnetic (EM) / Global Positioning (GPS) surveys using a time domain EM31 and EM38 coupled with a Trimble Power GPS system with post processing differential data correction providing guidance and precise estimations of impacts for clients.

* Surveys were conducted on projects such as buried garbage dumps, saline impacted soil, produced water spills, archeological assessments, conductivity profiling and groundwater aquifer mapping.

* Conducted several direct push resistivity surveys delineating electromagnetic anomalies using a Geoprobe Direct Push AC injection resistivity system along with soil core sampling.

* Conducted a ground penetrating radar survey to map subsurface bedrock at a contaminated site. The eventual results were used to install a groundwater remediation system.

* Conducted a high density time lapsed electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) survey mapping the subsurface groundwater table in southern Alberta, Canada.

* Performed many Magnetometer-Gradiometer / GPS surveys using a GSM-19 v610 Overhouser Magnetometer-Gradiometer instrument combined with a Trimble Pro XL GPS system for sub-meter accuracy.

* Performed numerous topographical high-density Time Kinetic (RTK) and Differential GPS surveys utilizing a Trimble base station and rover to cover areas encompassing 100m2 to 2km2 in size.

HYDROGEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS

* Conducted extensive hydrogeological studies to assess the availability and quality of groundwater resources for agricultural and industrial supply.

* Prepared budgets for domestic and industrial water well installations, and pump and slug tests.

* Conducted slug tests to assess aquifer hydraulic parameters.

UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS REMOVAL / MANAGEMENT

* Supervised the decommissioning and excavation of four 22,000L underground storage tanks formerly used for gasoline storage in south-western Alberta. Coordinated with contractors to supervise and monitor the purging of tank vapours. Collected and field screened selected soil samples for submission to the laboratory for analysis, and completed the required paperwork for the appropriate government agencies. Conducted the associated contaminated soil assessment and remediation.

RADIOLOGICAL SURVEYS

* Performed source surveys (while working for Computalog Ltd.) sampled radiological material using a Ludlum Model 44-6 sidewall G-M detector survey meter.

* Sampled radiation sources (used in the wireline industry) with a swab, submitted the swab and interpreted the results. Sampled instruments and other suspected radiological impacted areas with tape and submitted the samples for analysis.
