BACKGROUND
Dial Thru International is an American owned Telecommunications Company, focussing on providing international calling services – being a cost-effective alternative to the local Telco's in most countries. DTI has a blend of individual users, US Military personnel in military bases world-wide, SME's and then also provides its services to resellers and agents world-wide. The service it offers has developed from the traditional "Call-Back" services originating in the USA in the early 1990's. In addition the company also offers its service to International Carriers world-wide.

CURRENT POSITION: Operations Manager – Africa

CAREER PATH:
May 2002 – October 2002: Sales Consultant
November 2002 – May 2004: Regional Sales and Marketing Manager
June 2004 – Currently: Operations Manager

Responsibilities – Operations Manager

Operations:
- Overseeing the total business operations being Technical Department, Sales Department and the Customer Care Department (24/7/365 Call Centre) and their relevant managers.
- Signing off on new sales, and monitoring the procedure up to the installation of equipment on corporate customers' PABX's.
Business Development:
- Negotiating "Direct Circuits" and Carrier Services with telecommunications companies within Africa.
- Responsible for recruiting new resellers that buy DTI's service at wholesale and market it as their own - assisting them in building their business - thus improving DTI revenues.
- Attending trade exhibitions and ICASA Colloquium held to discuss the liberalization of the Telecommunications Industry in South Africa.
Communications:
- Internal communications as well as writing customer newsletters.
- Copywriting of company brochure and the South Africa office's portion of the DTI website, and giving general input for the websites (www.dialthru.com and www.rapidlink.com) an ongoing basis.
- Liaising with the relevant consulting companies in designing company advertising and promotional material.
Human Resources
- Screening and interviewing new appointments.
- Chairing disciplinary hearings, attending CCMA conciliatory meeting on behalf of company.
- Involved with the creation of the DTI Policy and Procedures Manual along with the HR consultant.

Assisting the Africa Manager with various duties where and when required, and second in command to the Africa Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Regional Sales And Marketing Manager
- Reporting to the Manager for Africa, responsible for promotion of the call-back business to corporate customers, operator assisted calls to overseas visitors, calling cards to overseas travellers, inbound call centre services and re-branding of DTI services for resellers.
- Recruiting distribution partners for our operator assisted service – signed on companies like AMEX, Rennies Bank, Kruger National Park, Airports Company of South Africa, Izinga Access.
- Worked closely with the Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KZN and Cape Town Tourism associations with the distribution of our operator assisted service.
- Worked closely with Africa Manager with the design, wording and placement of advertisements of the company and services in publications like "Sawubona" "Go Sandton" Avis Inbound" Avis Outbound" and also on billboards at Johannesburg International Airport.
- Responsible for sales staff and telemarketers, worked closely with technical staff and liaised with the customer care staff. Duties included staff interviews (not only Sales Staff), appointment and training of staff, and staff management.
- Responsible for recruiting new agents and being primary contact to existing agents through-out Africa, liaising and assisting them in building their agencies and thus improving company revenues.

ACHIEVEMENTS
- Managed to negotiate that Telkom Public Phones department agree to place DTI's Operated Assisted Service's marketing material on their public phones at the major airports in SA. This service is actually in direct competition to Telkom.
- In the three years that I have been with DTI the company has grown from having 6 employees offering support for SA resellers only - to a company with a staff compliment of over 25 people, with the addition of the 24/7/365 call centre offering customer service, a sales department and a technical department. All this is not due to me alone, but I was intrinsically involved in making this happen successfully.
- Given 5000 share options excersisble within the next ten years at $0.10 per share.

REASON FOR LEAVING:
I'm looking for a career in a financially stable company, where there is direction, vision, leadership and support from top management, and scope for career growth within the company. Currently I experience having exhausted my career growth options and I find some of my requirements above lacking.

TELEGEN SINGAPORE PTE LTD
POSITION: General Manager Singapore (08/98 – 11/01)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting to the CEO, responsible for daily operations of the call-back business.
- Responsible for sales staff, telemarketers, customer service staff, programming and technical staff and liaison with the office administrative staff. Duties included staff interviews, appointment and training, and staff management.
- Responsible for the processing of new customers on the Teledesq via the Internet.
- Responsible for liaison with the Principal Service Provider for resolution of problems.
- Research on the Internet on companies in various industries for comparisons to competitive activities and industry information.

ACHIEVEMENTS
- Re-designed office documentation to improve company image and improve effective flow of documentation.
- Initiated new software programs on the call routers that were more efficient and user-friendly to the end-users.
- Became Internet savvy, particularly on research and the gathering of data and information.

REASON FOR LEAVING:
Due to the downturn in the Singapore economy and the resultant increase in unemployment the renewal of my employment pass was denied and I had no choice but to come back to SA.

GLOBECOMM POSITION: Sole Proprietor. Singapore (08/95 – 06/98)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Built up and maintained customer base, maintaining regular contact with all customers while recruiting new business.
- Marketing IDD Service to target market, following up with sales visits and demonstrations, and signing them on as new customers.
