Cost Reduction
Developed and initiated groundwater monitoring optimization plan for 10,000 year containment activities for the placement of low-level nuclear waste in a national deep geological repository. Presented strategic implementation plan to site manager; received approval; executed program. Results: "Life Cycle" cost savings of $396 million.

Initiated national headquarter support for new research initiative at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory in Utah for understanding nuclear waste migration in the subsurface. Identified and overcame challenging financial, technical, and management impediments to initiate new program. Results: "Life Cycle cost savings of up to $800 million.

For five years, directed the technical and financial evaluation of environmental restoration projects for the U.S. Air Force to reduce costs and accelerate project timelines. Recommended 70 projects to be considered for funding that would substantially reduce time for environmental clean-up. Results: Reduction in "Life Cycle" cost savings of more than $210 million.

Created comprehensive five year $50 million technology demonstration research plan for the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence for acceleration of environmental clean-up projects. Developed focused achievable goals and objectives for aggressive field research program that would accelerate the commercialization of new environmental remediation technologies. Results: "Life Cycle" cost savings up to $96 million.

Domestic and International Business Development
Established new national Advanced Oil Recovery and Wetlands programs for the development of new technologies for increase oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico region. Coordinated and transferred successful field research projects to private U.S. industry, other federal agencies, domestic and international industry, governments, and universities. Results: Improved domestic balance of trade deficits in U.S. oil imports.

Directed and developed marketing strategies for introduction of new Measurement While Drilling (MWD) services domestically and internationally. Presented key technical papers at national and international meetings for marketing MWD services in Europe, Africa, North and South America, and the Far East. Developed training program for new services with all operation offices. Results: Lead to $68 million in new sales (first two years) in Anchorage, Calgary, Houston, London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore company operations offices.

Identified and established significant oil and gas reserves in the Williston Basin/Rocky Mountain Over thrust regions through the innovative management of multidiscipline technical production teams. Results: Identified production reserves valued at $1.6 billion.

Research and Development
National Technical task force leader in redirecting the National Oil Research Program for reducing the importing of foreign oil. Directed the implementation of a $700 million targeted field demonstration research program that focused on the reduction of technical, economic, and environmental constraints to domestic oil production. Two-year focused Headquarter, Technology Centers, Field Contracting Offices effort in developing short, medium, and long-range research goals and procurement initiatives. Results: Reduction in U.S. imported oil.

Developer and author of major university successful contract bid for 5-year $50 million General Systems Engineering and Integration contract with the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence in San Antonio, TX. Results: Contract award value of $50+ million.

Technology
Initiated and managed the development of a detail structural, stratigraphic, and production computer analysis of the Williston Basin to identify new oil and gas reserves. The first comprehensive computer basin analysis of the Williston Basin for a major integrated oil production company. Results: Production cost savings of several million dollars.

Pioneered new technical approaches to the identification and production of natural gas reserves from fractured gas reservoirs in the Appalachian Basin. Identified and overcame technical constraints through new subsurface mapping techniques. Results: Lead to identification of 27 billion cubic feet of producible gas reserves.
