Project Manager III
Serve as implementation Project Manager for Alaska's telecommunications projects comprised of a wide variety of internal and external customers within the state of Alaska. Average workload typically 15-20 projects; including a few small projects ($10K-$25K), a dozen medium short term ones ($15K-$50K) and usually several larger on-going, program affiliated projects ($50K-$10M). Overall duties and responsibilities include oversight of GCI personnel, subcontractors and engineering teams as required to get the project completed to schedule and within budgetary constraints. Engage multiple engineering disciplines to incorporate advanced and cutting edge technologies including SONET, ethernet, VoIP, IP, VPN, fiber optic, radio frequency, microwave, MPLS, satellite, broadband and wireless. Utilize professional Project Management tools and techniques to develop project scheduling and tracking capability to efficiently meet the needs of GCI and customer implementation commitments. Assigned as the primary Project Manager at the request of client and peers to handle the State of Alaska (SOA) TLS projects. Project portfolio includes high profile projects from complex projects and those requiring long term maintenance coverage such as the SOA end user agencies, SOA Railroad and SOA Alaska Court System. Maintaining a long term relationship and projecting a professional corporate image is essential to these more demanding customers. Acted as the lone Project Management Professional (PMP) certified Project Manager to fulfill contractual requirements set forth during the bidding process by both state and federal customers. Customer population comprised of local and remote culturally diverse native Alaskan communities. Remote locations within the state of Alaska required special attention to logistical preparedness prior to implementation.
