Recruited as Director for Al Rajhi Construction operating in the UAE and KSA, a member of Al Rajhi Investment Group responsible:
To setup from scratch a complete Plant & Transport business including recruitment, resource selection, purchasing, capital, land acquisition, offices, labour accommodation, workshop design & build
Set up from scratch an Asphalt plant, workshops and offices
Full Budget, P&L control with start-up in excess of $60 million and management of all Assets
Manage all Divisions - Safety, quality, operations, commercial, financial, logistics, and transport. MEP fabrication, contracts, preventative maintenance, repair, supplier agreements, vendor management inventory and cross hires.

Lafarge Cement Division, Nigeria
Company Manager; Quarry Mobile Plant and Power Generation May 2003 – Jan 2006
Within this demanding position at Lafarge Nigeria, I was primarily accountable for the management of in excess of 200 mobile plant and 300 vehicles for repair, maintenance and operation - distributed between two main locations. As Company Manager; responsible for:
Assuming responsibility for budgets in excess of $5M
Managing and administering all department activities, including: change and project management as well as the planning and implementation of correct workshop practices / procedures
Ensuring preventative maintenance disciplines at all times
Maintaining health, safety and environmental obligations
Ensuring sufficient staffing levels to meet demands; implementing staff training where needed
Presenting action plans; postponing major investment whilst improving availability and reliability
Coordinating the management of 3rd party contracts and contract tendering
Acting as a key Lafarge Group committee member for Mobile Equipment Management & Outsourcing
Responsible for all Lafarge Africa quarry equipment Capital purchase and application
Administration and Environment controls working to ISO 9001 / 14001 standards

Proposed a sustainable solution for quarry mobile equipment with a view to outsourcing, and managed / re-negotiated current external contracts
Coordinated the main power station and emergency standby sets for the operation, distribution, repair and maintenance at Sagamu works; running both Gas Turbine and Diesel Generating sets
Formulated an independent power project proposal at Sagamu and managed an energy service agreement with an external service provider (Rolls Royce Power Ventures) at Ewekoro
Portland Transport – Lafarge / Blue Circle
General Manager December 2000 – May 2003
Initially employed as Mobile Plant Advisor to West African Portland Cement (Blue Circle Industries); responsible for the management and administration of all activities, including: the repair, maintenance, planning and implementation of correct workshop procedures whilst providing leadership to Mobile Plant Engineers to facilitate smooth operations.
Through hard work and strategic vision, I gained promotion to General Manager and was assigned to Portland Transport Division; maintaining the well being of a multi-million dollar distribution division, coordinating in excess of 100 tractors, 180 trailer units and 300 staff. Additional tasks associated with my role consisted of:
Approving budgets; creating business plans and producing / implementing lease contracts
Operating and controlling third party contract hire agreements; liaising with manufacturers for equipment replacement / addition and writing off equipment beyond repair
Arranging management training programmes and appraisals as appropriate
Attending meetings with regards to the marketing strategy and logistics
Coordinating the distribution of imported products through land-based Customs
Maintaining liaison with Customs, Health and Immigration departments
Developing the division to make a significant impact on profitability and effectiveness turning a $5M deficit into a $5M positive turnover in preparation for a joint venture investment programme

Outside of a professional environment, I am interested and have played most sports at above average levels and am qualified as a SLSC Lifeguard (beach and pool), PADI advanced diver, RYA sailing competent crewman, bronze downhill skier and hold a golfing handicap of 17.
