Responsibilities: Project Technical management of Royal Commission's Environmental control Department's monitoring program comprising of ambient Air Quality stations, Industrial permit processing Division, Marine division, Chemical Laboratory and Hazardous waste division. Led a team of Engineers and Scientists. The Royal commission's environmental monitoring program comprises of:
- Continuous Air Quality Monitoring for various pollutants viz. Sulphur dioxide Nitrogen oxides, Ozone, VOCs and particulate matter in addition to Meteorological data.
- Collecting and testing industrial waste water samples, on alternate day basis, generated by the industries ( with the aid of auto samplers ) for various pollutants including trace metals.
- Collecting and testing samples on alternate day basis from central waste water treatment plant owned by the Royal commission.
- Monitoring Red Sea waters to assess damage to the marine life (treated waste water is discharged into the Red Sea),if any, around the city on weekly basis.
- Collecting and testing potable water samples from different locations in the industrial city (potable water is supplied by the Royal Commission after Desalination).
- Collecting and testing treated sewage water samples (treated sewage water is used for landscape purposes)
- Proper management of hazardous and non Hazardous waste generated by the indus-tries as well as by the community.
- Performing modelling studies in identifying the level of pollution which will be useful in the development of the city with the advent of new industries.
- Assisting the Royal commission in designing the city's future master plans.
- Reviewing environmental impact studies.
- Issuing permits to new industries.
- Visiting industries at frequent intervals to ensure compliance by industries on all pending pollution problems.
- Collecting ambient air samples regularly from community areas and analysing for various pollutants.
- Supervising stack monitoring tests conducted by industries.
- Maintaining meteorological data.
