PROJECTS
1. Multi–component Fate of Fertilizer and Pesticide Residues Transport in Sub–Soil and Groundwater Environment
Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Government of India, New Delhi, sponsored the project. It is the study on the movement of the fertilizers and pesticides in the soil to the groundwater in an agricultural field. Lysimeter study is being conducted for the leacheate movement. Groundwater modeling for the pesticide transport is being conducted.
2. Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment for Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers
Collection of baseline data in the project Vicinity, Interpretation of the data and Environmental Impact Identification, Impact prediction for affected attributes using prediction models and REIA report preparation. Air quality modeling studies were conducted using the Industrial Source Complex Short Term Model (ISCST3) to forecast the ground level Concentration.
3. Removal of O-Cresol by Adsorption on Impregnated Bagasse Fly ash
As a Sponsored Project from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology an attempt as been made to explore the possibility of using the cheaper substitute Bagasse fly ash for the removal of phenol from the water. Impregnation has been made to increase the potentiality of Bagasse fly ash. Isotherm equations were used to evaluate the adsorption capacities and intensities.
4. Low cost attenuation media studies on removal of inorganic salts in the treatment of water
Saw dust is used as low cost adsorbent for the removal of inorganic salts in the water. Column studies were conducted for different strength, Time intervals, etc. Equations have been generated to show the intensity of the adsorption of organic salts on the adsorbent.
