Thesis: U.S. EPA air dispersion models: ISCST3, AERMOD, and CORMIX were used to study the environmental effects of Multistage Flash Desalination plant located in the Saudi Arabian region. The thesis/research was in collaboration with Al-Jubail MSF desalination plant and Saudi Arabia. Basically, dispersion of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter were studied. Based on the estimated concentration at different locations impact factors were quantified. CORMIX was used to determine the environmental effects of brine discharge from Al-Jubail desalination plant into the Persian Gulf.

PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

1. Acid Rain and its Environmental Impacts
This term project was done as a part of the course on air quality modeling. In this project, a study has been conducted to locate the sources of acid rain gases (SOx and NOx) in North American region. Study transport of these gases over different region, formation mechanism of acid in the atmosphere and subsequent fall out of these acids as rain. In addition to this impact of acid rain over different environmental media were also studied.

2. Solid Waste Landfill Design
A group project was conducted in 1997-98 for the community of St. John's, Newfoundland. In this project the task for which I was responsible was a. Selection of appropriate site b. Lining design, and c. Cost estimation of the whole project d.

3. Characteristics of Concrete With Locally Available Sands
This project was conducted in 1993-94 for the partial fulfillment of B.Sc Civil Engineering degree. In this project the moisture content, specific gravity, sieve analysis, and fineness modulus were calculated for different locally available sands. The characteristics of sands and the compressive strength of concrete were calculated, results were analyzed and recommendations were made.
