WORK EXPERIENCE
METALLURGIST – Konkola Copper Mines PLC
July 2005 – PRESENT
Employed as a Metallurgist, working in the production of copper at Konkola Concentrator. The Plant consists of Crushing, Grinding, Flotation and Drying sections. Working in the Flotation Section, responsibilities are to:
- Set parameters of the columns depending on the head grade, to achieve the target grade, recovery and minimal insoluble gangue of the concentrates.
- Carry out laboratory test works to optimize the flotation parameter and reagents.
- Raise Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for consumables and flotation equipments.
- Liaise with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation personnel on maintenance work and daily routine of running the plant.
- Liaise with Metallurgists in charge of other sections in the running of the plant.
- Prepare Daily Flotation report, which is reviewed weekly; comment and recommend ways to improve the flotation process.
- Inspect spargers and their manifolds on columns.
- Trouble-shoot at the flotation section.
- Monitor the performance of the Multi Stream analyzer (MSA).

July 2004 – June 2005
Extensive one-year development program, which encompassed training in all Konkola Copper Mines Metallurgical plants, including Tailings Leach Plant (TLP), Nchanga Concentrator and Konkola Concentrator.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Published a report on 'Comparing the Consumption of Grinding Media in two different Ball Mills and giving reasons for the discrepancies' for the UNZA – KCM Konkola Concentrator joint project as a partial requirement for the fulfilment leading to the award of the Bachelor's degree.
- Part of Team involved in the successful commissioning of the Multi Stream Analyser, which is an equipment used in the monitoring of assays (Copper, Cobalt, Iron and % Solids) in different streams on the plant. This was done at Nchanga Concentrator of Konkola Copper Mines Plc (05/2005).
- Part of the Six Men Team involved in the successful Improvement of Copper Recovery at the Nchanga Concentrator (04/2005).
- Brought back into Operation the Multi Stream Analyser, which had been non-operational for over six months at Konkola Concentrator (08/2005).
- Brought down Copper losses in Tailings at Konkola Concentrator from 0.45%TCu to 0.36%TCu (08/2005)
