Summary of Qualifications
Geologist with experience in environmental consulting. He has experience conducting groundwater sampling at several UST (Underground Storage Tank) and WQARF (Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund) sites. Conducted soil-gas sampling for soil-vapor extraction UST sites, assisted in field operations for drilling and installation of monitor wells, logged standard test borings, determined groundwater characteristics (flow direction, pH, conductivity, turbidity, etc.), collection of soil and water samples, and assisted in interpretation of analytical and geological data. He has also mapped various geological regions within Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Utah. He has worked as an intern in the Geology Section of the Milwaukee Public Museum, and worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Environmental Geology, Physical Geology, and Geology for Elementary Teachers classes for the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Kentucky.

Representative Hydrogeological Project Experience
* Geologist on numerous projects that involved soil and groundwater investigations in Arizona.
* Prepared detailed lithologic cross-sections and contributed to the hydrogeologic interpretation for various petroleum hydrocarbon UST and WQARF sites.
* Assisted in field operations for drilling and installation of monitor wells for several private clients.
* Prepared lithological logs of drill cuttings from various boreholes in the Upper Alluvial Unit (UAU) of the Phoenix region.
* Conducted wastewater sampling to meet permit compliance requirements. Responsible for calibration and proper function of all monitoring equipment. Equipment includes ultrasonic flow meter, pH and temperature probes, pumps and measuring systems to balance pH with such additives as caustic soda and sulfuric acid. Performed composite sampling quarterly as well as grab samples two separate times per month.
* Familiar with Soil Vapor Extraction systems associated with remediation of soil. Project site involved primarily petroleum-contaminated soil associated with leaking UST system. Worked under project manager for Soil Vapor Extraction system for in-situ remediation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil. Project involved use of thermal oxidizer and catalytic oxidizer units for emission control, as well as direct discharge to the atmosphere. Experienced operating, maintaining, and trouble-shooting Soil Vapor Extraction emissions abatement unit.
* Assisted in the installation of groundwater monitoring wells during Phase I remedial investigations and collection of soil samples from monitoring well boreholes to characterize and define the hydrogeologic conditions and vertical and horizontal extent of soil and groundwater contamination resulting from the release(s) of hazardous substances.
Paleontological Project Experience
* Basic duties included sieving and picking conodonts and other microfossils from acid residues, cutting and polishing rock slabs and core, fieldwork near Lincoln Creek, WI and other miscellaneous lab procedures and projects. The material worked on is from the Deep Tunnel Project and the Lincoln Creek Flood Project and includes Silurian Waubakee Formation and the Devonian Milwaukee Formation of Milwaukee County. The data gathered will be composed and presented to the University of Wisconsin as a Ph.D. dissertation where Matthew Dahlem will be accredited as a junior author.
Teaching Experience
* Taught Physical Geology labs during the fall of 2001, Environmental Geology from 2001-2003, and Geology for Elementary Teachers labs during the spring of 2003.
Master's Degree Thesis Topic
* "Sedimentology of the Sulphur Well Member, Lexington Limestone, central Kentucky"
Achievements
* Kappa Sigma Fraternity (1998-Present)
* University of Wisconsin Oshkosh varsity football team (1996-1999) and varsity track & field team (1996-1998)
