BRD Environmental (2003 – present)

Barnaby has been an employee of BRD Environmental for a year and is a key asset to the team. Barnaby has gained a wealth of experience in many varied projects as detailed below. His role with BRD is as Environmental Scientist and is responsible for undertaking all aspects of contaminated land consultancy, ranging from initial desk studies through to site investigations, remediation supervision and report writing.

Recent Projects Include:

North Street, Burwell, Cambridgeshire
As site manager for the project, Barnaby is responsible for managing the demolition and remediation in line with the approved strategy, co-ordinating suppliers and contractors, liaising with statutory bodies and maintaining good relations with both client and public. The project is ongoing and running to programme and budget.

Haddenham, Cambridgeshire
As assistant site manager, Barnaby supervised the excavation and removal of contaminated soils as one of his duties within the remediation of the site, which enabled the site fit to be used as residential dwelling.

Hamble Motors, Hamble, Hants
A contract to excavate and remove the contamination resulting from the operation of the former Hamble Motors garage prior to the construction of a residential development. Barnaby carried out the supervision of the contractor throughout these operations. The project was delivered on time and to budget.

Headlands Grove, Swindon
Providing assistance to the Project manager by undertaking supervision of the contaminated soil excavation, testing of treated soil and confirmatory trial pitting. This is an ongoing project.

The Ham, Westbury
Barnaby is responsible for the validation trial pit investigation to confirm that the correct thickness of capping required by the remediation strategy has been applied to garden areas. This is an ongoing project.

Environmental Resource Management (1997 - 2000)

Barnaby was employed by ERM for three consecutive summer vacation placements. During his placements Barnaby was involved in site investigation works, which tasks included; supervision of drillers and soil profile logging and soil and water sampling.
