I.Title: A Study On Environmental Indices For The Yashwanthpur Industrial Area of Bangalore city.
Abstract:
A short time study was undertaken to establish Environmental indices, such as Air Quality Index, Water Quality Index, Soil Pollution Index and Noise Pollution Index, for Yashwanthpur industrial area of Bangalore city. The related data was collected for a period of 15 days from 12th to 26th Aug 2003. An average Air Quality Index of 48.67 was found in Yashwanthpur industrial area and based on this index the air quality is categorized as "good". The ground water quality in the study area is considered as "not fit for human consumption" as evidenced by the high water quality index of 105.643 (Avg). The soil quality in study area is categorized as "unpolluted" as evidenced by the low soil pollution index. The Soil Pollution Index is arrived at 8.325 (Avg). The Noise Pollution Index in the study area is categorized as "moderately loud" as proved by the medium Noise Pollution Index of 86.33 (Leq).
