Geologist – Kensington Mine, S.E.AK: Coeur Alaska Inc./Avalon Development 5/2005 – Present
Orogenic, shear-hosted and stockwork vein gold deposit, Juneau Gold Belt

Gained experience working around diamond drill rigs, logging core and sampling. Participated in data collection, including district- and mine-scale mapping and sampling. Assisted with data compilation, QA/QC and development of a geologic database accessed by Vulcan and MapInfo. Utilized MapInfo to compile a district-scale geologic map by integrating historic mapping and interpretation with drill hole and geophysical data and my own underground and surface mapping. Assisted with development of a new structural model for deposit mineralization. Performed 3-D modeling of major geologic structures, and generated a predictive structural model for shear-hosted vein mineralization at the Jualin prospect.

Taught introductory and structural geology labs. Illustrated basic geologic concepts and theories and helped students apply these concepts to solve problems. Strengthened presentation and communication skills and gained supervisory/management experience.

Provided oversight for many extended field projects including: drilling, soil sampling, and well installation, development and destruction. Collected background and historical data, participated in new data collection (water, soil and gas sampling) and analysis. Constructed potentiometric surface maps, assembled and analyzed water quality data, and developed stratigraphic cross sections. Used Rockworks to analyze hydrogeologic and geochemical data.
