Junior Geologist

Objective:
To obtain employment as a Junior Geologist with an opportunity to maintain learned skills and develop new skills under the mentorship of a Senior Geologist.

Experience:
Geologist – Firstgold Corporation, Lovelock, NV (2007 – present).
- Conducted surface geologic mapping (both project scale and reconnaissance in a variety of environments).
- Core and chip logging of sediment-hosted disseminated gold deposits at Relief Canyon Mine in Lovelock, Nevada. Core and chip logging of greenschist volcanics and carbonaceous, sulfide rich sediments at a developing exploration target. Chip logging at another exploration target involving altered breccias zones in Valmy Formation rock (Chert, Quartzites, and Phyllites).
- Supervision of drilling program with tasks including drill pad layout, depth determination, and various other tasks to ensure smooth and continuous operation of the drill program.
- Observed and supervised application of QAQC protocols.
- Soil sampling of numerous exploration targets, and assisted in developing contour maps with geochemical data obtained from soil sample assays.
- Assisted in the integration of geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data with the aim to generate drill targets.
- Experience in the use of GPS equipment, including the Trimble GPS requiring sub-meter accuracy.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, and was solely responsible for the development of a digitized mapping project of an ongoing exploration target.
- Familiarity with Surpac software, and attended a three day, in-house Surpac course in early 2008.

Education:
University of Maine, Orono, ME, B.A. degree in Earth Sciences-geology (met all requirements except a one credit senior capstone course in 2007, finalized in 2008 while employed).

Military Experience:
U.S. Army (1991-2003). Served in the Army Special Forces for six years with extensive field experience in multiple environments. Training involved numerous tasks unrelated to geology, however, extensive experience in the field and map work, as well as GPS and medical training could apply.
