Fabrication division of Petron at Baroda is one of the largest fabricators of critical pressure vessels, heaters for process plants. The company has large groups of Production, Design and QA/QC. I joined with Welding and NDT department, a part of Quality Assurance/ Control function. During my tenure as QA-QC Engineer in heavy and medium fabrication shops, I was involved with the fabrication of critical equipments for petrochemical, refineries, fertilizer and other plants. The specific responsibilities I had during my service are listed below.

1 Preparation of Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).
2 Inspection of raw materials w.r.t. specification and purchase orders as per ASME section II part A/B/C etc..
3 Establishing of WPS/PQR for various materials (CS, SS, AS, dissimilar) and welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) as per ASME section IX..
4 Conduct of Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) as per ASME section IX.
5 Stage wise inspection as per ITP viz. Fit-up, weld visual, Implementing and witnessing various NDT techniques viz. DPT, Radiographic film interpretation, MPI, UTT, PWHT, pressure test etc. Arranging for closing all NCRs issued during third party inspection.
6 Developing post-weld heat Treatment procedures in line with ASME and other codes.
7 Documentation as per ITP for all the stages viz. Material identification, Fit-up inspection, Weld visual inspection, NDT reports, pressure test reports, reviewing corrective and preventive measures.
8 Preparation of Manufacturer Data Book (Quality Dossier) as per client's requirement.
9 Training for awareness of QMS/ internal auditing at works and HO. Leading and conducting internal audits and preparation for third party audit (external audit) by certification body and documentation for the same.
