Current Project: National Ice Skating Centre (NISC) - Project commencment - Jan 2009
Developer - ING RED/ Victorian Goenrnment, Architect - Cox, Engineers - ARUP
Having just completed Waterfront City Shopping Centre, I have moved to a new project in the Waterfront City precinct, (it is located across the road). This project is a design a construction of two international standard ice skating rinks seating approximately 3,000 spectators. The main rink, (Rink 1) has been designed to meet Olympic standards and specifications. Sports catered for are ice hockey, figure skating, curling and speed skating.

Being part of a small team, namely 6 people, as the project coordinator work closely with the project manager and am I am involved with all facets of this project as listed below;

* Architectural & Structural co-ordination – working closely with Cox architects and Arup's engineers to meet design changes whilst maintaining program deadline
* Co-ordinating Sub-contractor's works, including quality assurance, also ensuring they can achieve the project's deadlines

Project: Waterfront City Shopping Centre & Apartments
Developer - ING RED, Architectt- Hassell, Engineers - Winwards, Lincolne Scott
A design and construct project of the premier mixed-use development at Waterfront City, comprising of retail, residential and commercial space which covers more than 20 hectares.

The project is valued at $400 million ($AUD) and features 60,000m2 of retail space split over two open levels with interconnecting bridges, along with the Southern Star Observation Wheel..

My position at Waterfront City primarily consists of two roles, as follows:

1) Tenancy Retail coordinator for the Shopping Centre
* Management of 130 retail shop fit-out works, including clothing, food and beverage.
* Liaised with shop tenants regarding service requirements, gas, water, kitchen filtration, mechanical, electrical modifications. Tenants include Esprit, Forever New, KFC, Nandos, Boost Juice, The Coffee Club and EB Games.

2) Building Defects Manager
* Management of defects for the complete construction of 1 B North base building. Including retail, apartments, roads, landscaping.
* Involved with hand-over of practical completion to the client for the separate stages.

Project Engineer Jan 2006 – April 2008
Advanced Precast

Advanced Precast is Australia largest manufacturer of precast panels with factories located in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. My role here is to co-ordinate projects with our draftsman and external engineers, architects and builders. Typically I would run 6 or 7 projects totalling approximately 5 million dollars.

Some of my projects include:
Waterfront City – Docklands $3million, South Melbourne Lifestyle Centre, $3 million, 900 panels (photos available) Liquor Warehouse $0.5 million Canberra, 200 panels (photos available) SPOTLIGHT Carnegie $3.5 million, Mornington Hospital and King St – Sydney

* Checking/redesigning panels to ensure they have appropriate strength for lifting from the casting table and also for transportation
* Undertaken structural analysis of panels during their erection sequence, ensuring propping is adequate and wind loads are resisted, collating a final "erection procedure"
* Co-ordinating with draftsman regarding shop drawing issues, technical queries etc.
* Attending site meetings and representing the company, ensuring panel manufacture and erection dates are adhered to.
* Liaising with the factory manager on issues relating to the manufacture of panels and site crew with the erection of panels
* Ordering of dowels, brackets, angles etc. for connections

Site Engineer/Foreman Oct 2005 – Jan 2006
CDL Constructions

At CDL Constructions my role was a Site Engineer/Foreman. CDL is one of Melbourne's major excavation/site retention contractors. I ceased employment after the project was completed.

I performed the following tasks:

* Helped the surveyor with the set out for bored piers, footings, shot-crete walls and excavation
* Used a laser level to control the depth of excavation, concrete pours for piers, capping beam, footings etc..
* Procurement of reinforcement for bored piers, footings and shot-crete walls
* Set-out and formwork to capping beams, pouring and finishing of concrete
* Directing labourers, steel fixers, formworkers and the shot-crete crew
* Management of all site labour and OH&S issues

At Reidy the Wrecker I was employed as a Project Manager/Estimator. This company is a major demolition contractor which prides themselves in working on multi-level inner-city projects.

At City Circle Demolition and Excavation Pty Ltd I was employed as a Project Manager/Estimator.

* Calculating and submitting prices for demolition, excavation, site remediation and asbestos removal tenders
* Managing demolition projects and coordinating demolition workers
* Ensuring the achievements of project time frames and budget targets
* Client liaison and negotiation, includes property developers, architects, builders and government authorities

My position as Estimator at DVP Engineering Pty Ltd involved the calculation of final costings, for the supply and erection of structural steel for construction tenders.

I performed the following duties for any given tender:

* Liaising with builders in order to clarify the tender's contract requirements (ie. specification, drawings and B.O.Q.)
* Structural steel "take off" and summation of material quantities
* Calculating an estimate cost for fabrication, drafting and erection for the project
