Experience
Jan. 02 to Date: BG Tunisia — Operations Support Group Manager*
In this position I am responsible to the BG Tunisia VP Operations Manager. The main roles and responsibilities are as listed bellow.
- Manage the material and logistics and provide general support function to both onshore and offshore operations.
- Preparation and monitoring of the operational and capital budgets in line with the overall asset performance targets.
- Manage the overall planning activity for the Asset, including major plant and field shutdowns, project engineering, maintenance and business improvement plans for BG Tunisia.
- Manage Operations relevant contracts (e.g. supply vessels, helicopter, freight forwarding, etc.) to ensure that all Operational requirements within the integrated business plan are achieved.
- Develop short and medium term strategies for the effective sharing and management of the available logistics resources and supply chain process.
- Developing and maintaining the Asset Quality Assurance Management System and supporting QA/QC procedures. This includes the implementation of an Electronic Document Management System.
- Management of Asset Computerised Materials & Maintenance System (CMMS).
- Recruiting and appraising staff as necessary and preparing staff training and development plan in conjunction with HR department.
- Deputize for the Miskar Asset Manager as and when required.
- The function has been limited over the last 2 years period to inventory management and some material logistics.
Jan. 01 to Dec. 01: BG Tunisia — Operations Co-ordinator
In this position I am responsible to the Production Manager. My main duties are listed below:
- Display the highest level of HSSE leadership and lead team by example.
- Provide logistics support to the Operations Group by efficient management of resources and services, which are indirectly, associated with the production operations onshore and offshore.
- Managing efficiently the safe storage and movement of materials, and providing of accurate and timely information about the spares inventory and chemicals stock holding.
- Review materials supply chain process and identify bottlenecks and resolving them.
- Controlling and monitoring Budget Expenditure for Production Group's OPEX & CAPEX to effectively minimise expenditure outlay and aid in the reduction of operating costs.
- Identify training & development requirement for subordinates.
- Implementing of BG Tunisia Waste Management Plan applicable to Operations by processing and safe disposal of all waste materials generated by operations off- and onshore.
Jan. 1998 to Dec. 2000: BG Tunisia — Production Engineer
In this position I am responsible to the Senior Production Engineer. My main duties are as follows:
- Providing Process Engineering Support to onshore & offshore operations and monitoring onshore and offshore production performance.
- Identifying and Monitoring key plant parameters, and ensuring that the operations are carried out in the most efficient, safe and cost effective manner. This includes the leading of benchmarking studies.
- Investigation of production volumes losses and maintaining a Loss Accounting Database.
- Reviewing and monitoring operation of field equipment and making recommendations on modifications to plant/equipment to improve plant performance.
- Conducting and Chairing HAZOP (Hazards & Operability) Studies as well as reviewing Safety Cases studies.
- Developing, reviewing and updating Operations Procedures and Standing Instructions.
- Preparation of weekly, monthly and yearly production volumes plans/forecasts and ensuring those ongoing activities are complying with the plan.
- Ordering Lab equipment and supplies.
Jan. 1995 to Dec. 97: BG Tunisia Safety & Environmental Officer
In this position I am responsible to the BG Tunisia Safety and Environmental Manager. My duties are as follows:
- Developing of the Safety Health and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) and promoting positive culture of safety, health and environmental protecting amongst BG Tunisia's and contractor's staff.
- Interfacing on Environmental issues with Partners and Government Agencies (ANPE, Ministry of Environment, Municipality, etc.).
- Monitoring and testing air emissions and evaluating air pollution control measures.
- Developing water, air and soil pollution control programmes.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and hazardous situations and preparing statistics.
- Carrying out HSE inspections and audits for different BG Tunisia premises to ensure compliance with statutory and organisational requirements and advising and inform staff about HSE related issues.
- Identifying hazards and assessing risks as well as monitoring and evaluating selected risk control measures and advising on HSE aspects of all new development projects.
- Establishing of BG Tunisia site Emergency Response Plans.
- Revising and Preparing Safety Cases Studies related to the Oil and Gas activities.
July 1993 to Dec. 1994: TBS** - Safety and Environmental Engineer
**TBS was an oil producing JV between British Gas & State Oil Company.
In this position I was responsible to the BG Tunisia Safety and Environmental Manager, but was reporting on a day to day basis to both Project and Production Managers. I was dealing with the subject listed below:
- Conducting and accomplishing all company Environmental Studies.
- Planning, implementing and reviewing HSSE Management System and procedures, including the generation and distribution of Oil Spill Response Activities Onshore and Offshore.
- Meeting with Authorities (ANPE, Ministry of Environment, Municipality, etc.) on Environmental issues.
- Developing and initiating of programmes for corrosion inhibition and anti-foaming in the crude oil treatment to minimise leaks and hence preserve the environment.
- Develop and maintaining a training and succession plan for HSSE staff.
- Investigating Accidents & Incidents, and preparing and updating statistics regularly.
